Blake nodded. “Okay.”

Olivia said, “That’s it for now. I have a social engagement with the CEOs from other websites tonight. You’re coming with me.”

Blake responded, “Sure.”

Her seat in the office had been moved outside the chief editor’s office. She sat in front of the desk, looking at the text sent by Liam on her phone.

He texted: [Mom and Dad have already picked out some photography companies for our wedding photos. Time is a little tight. Take a look and see if you like any of them.]

Blake merely glanced at it before pocketing her phone. She then remembered what Hannah had told her regarding her past with Liam. She thought that the little boy in her dreams might be him. Eventually, she opened the conversation with Liam again and replied.

She responded: [Let’s go with the third company. I still have work to do. We’ll talk after I’m off work.]

Liam replied: [Okay. I’ll pick you up after work.]

His civil service examination had long been fixed. As long as he was qualified in the top ten, he would surely pass the interview.

Liam would only truly start his career once he entered the officialdom.

After Liam sent the message to Blake, Julian, dressed in a suit, walked over to him confidently. “If you’re free today, I’ll take you to meet a few of my friends. When you’re climbing the ranks in the future, you’ll have some seniors to take care of you.”

With Julian’s current position, he already had some real power. After all, those in his position had some means.

Liam responded, “I’m not interested.”

Julian stopped him. “You’re destined to take over my position in the future. There’s no turning back now. Liam, don’t blame me for meddling in your affairs. Everything I do is for your own good.

“You must understand that you can only get more things once you truly grasp certain powers.”

Just then, a burst of furious roars and the loud sound of a vase being broken came from downstairs. “Did you guys arrange for Liam to marry Blake when I was away yesterday? Mom, you promised to help me. Why are you going back on your word? If he marries Blake, what about me then?

“Mom, how could you do this?”

Ixia was dressed elegantly, wearing a lace dress with her long hair curled up. She shattered the expensive vase. Her eyes were red and filled with tears.

Lylia replied, “Ixia, listen to me. All of this is for our future. Liam marrying her is just a temporary measure.”

“No, I don’t believe it. I can’t let the wedding happen. I like Liam; I won’t let him marry that bitch.”

“Ixia!” Lylia looked worriedly at Ixia, who was full of intense emotions.

However, standing on the stairs, Liam saw everything Ixia had done. His expression was indifferent.

Julian said, “You’re already causing a scene the moment you got back!”

Ixia replied, “Dad…”

Her gaze shifted toward Liam. She looked bewildered. “L-Liam.”

Liam walked downstairs. His gaze was cold as he looked at Julian and calmly said, “I’m not interested in your bureaucratic socializing. And I’ve said it before: as long as she’s here, I won’t stay.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
