The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1278

In a dimly lit room with thick curtains drawn, the man lying in the bed had opened his eyes. However, he was currently unable to move his limbs. The nurse tended to him and moistened his lips with a cotton swab.

Upon seeing someone entering, she said, “Dr. Stewart, the patient’s condition is still the same. After we saved his life, he remains conscious but unable to move.”

Kai waved his hand, and the nurse left the room. He approached, sat by the bedside, and said, “Andrew, this is the first time I’ve earnestly called you that. You can hear me clearly now. At this point, I find it pointless. After all these years, with Zach as an example, I have no regrets about reaching this point.

“I have no connection with the Stewart family and am not your father’s child. Back then, entering the Stewart family

was a coincidence. I assumed Kai’s identity when the real Kai died when he was wandering.

“My real surname is Blinken. Twenty years ago, enemies tried to kill me, but luckily, I survived. Later, I encountered Kai. Before he fell ill and passed away, he entrusted me with a jade pendant, a symbol of the Stewart family’s heritage.

“Back then, I adopted a one-step-at-a- time attitude while staying with the Stewart family, never expecting so many years to pass in the blink of an eye. As for Lana, I’ve never had anything with her. Her child is yours.”

Andrew shifted his eyes and looked to the side while on the bed. Noticing his reaction, Kai chuckled and said, “I do like her, that’s true. However, I disdained using those tactics to win someone over. Take your treatment seriously, Andrew. You have your wife and kids waiting for you at home. Don’t let my efforts to pull you back from the brink go to waste.”

Kai stood up and left the room. As for the Stewart family, he never coveted their wealth. With Hayson’s death, Kai avenged a long-standing score successfully, leaving him with no regrets. Now, he was waiting for Zach to wake up to reveal the truth. If Zach found out, the first person he would not spare would be him.

Kai was driving smoothly toward Southern Haven Villas when he felt his phone buzz. Checking it, he saw an anonymous message: [Someone is planning to commit murder at Southern Haven Villas and stage it as an accident. Hurry over!]

Upon seeing this message, Kai was uncertain of its authenticity but decided to believe it ultimately. He immediately stepped on the gas and headed swiftly toward Southern Haven Villas.

Underneath the place, someone had dug a tunnel. As a maid passed by, she suddenly caught a whiff of a pungent smell. She asked, “Did you guys smell that? Why does it seem like there’s a gas leak? Could it be leaking? Go check it out quickly.”

After inspecting thoroughly, the maid was still puzzled. “I checked, and everything seems fine. I don’t see any issues.”

Fearing something bad would happen, Margaret, who was holding Dalton in her arms, hurriedly went upstairs. ” Hurry up. Open all the windows to let the smell dissipate.”

Kai arrived without any hindrance. As he entered Southern Haven Villas, the gas smell was totally gone. Upon seeing him, Margaret immediately recognized him. “Oh my! Isn’t this Dr. Stewart? Didn’t your wife come with you?”

He surveyed the surroundings. “Has anything happened recently?”

Most of the management in the villa now fell on Margaret. She answered, ” There hasn’t been much going on. Dr. Stewart, you’re here to visit Dalton, right? I’ll take you upstairs. Dalton has been so well-behaved lately. Usually, he plays by himself when nobody bothers him. Other than that, not much else is happening. Sometimes, he’s too noisy, making the villa quite chaotic.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
