The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1227

A thought lingered in Blake’s mind as she pondered deeply, ‘As long as I’m married to Liam, Cecilia has promised not to harm anyone.’

Liam, noticing something amiss in her demeanor, asked, “What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?”

Blake maintained a few steps behind Liam as they walked, creating a physical and emotional distance. She replied, “I’m just a bit dizzy. Let’s head back.”

Liam offered to drive her home, but she declined, “No, thank you. My place is in the opposite direction of the company’s. You have work, and I don’t want to cause any delays.”

Despite her words, Blake felt an increasing emotional distance from him, which seemed to grow with each passing moment.

Sensing her unease and looking slightly disappointed, Liam pressed her for answers, “Blake, what is going on? Is Cecilia using Kevin to threaten you again? Please, tell me what’s going on. I’m here to help.”

Blake was torn. Liam’s kindness overwhelmed her. It was more than what she expected from a friend. It felt deeper, more personal.

“Can we talk in your car?” Blake suggested, desiring a more private setting.

“Of course, let’s go. I’ll take your luggage,” Liam replied, always ready to assist.

Once in the car, he prompted, “What did you want to talk about?”

Blake, wrestling with her thoughts, asked, “Liam, we’re friends, right? You won’t turn into someone like Cecilia, would you?”

Liam looked surprised at first, then offered a gentle smile. He said, “Blake, I’ll never harm you. I made a promise to myself. Do you really think I could become like that?”

However, Blake’s trust was wavering. Cecilia had hinted that Liam would become a political threat to Kevin. She almost revealed this to Liam but then remembered Kevin’s warning.

“Don’t trust anyone’s words once you’re back in Ventropolis,” Kevin had warned her.

“What about Liam? He seems to be the only one who can help me at the company,” Blake had argued.

Kevin’s warning was clear, “Human minds are a lot more terrifying than monsters’. Trust Liam if you feel he’s trustworthy, but never fully.”

Blake asked, “Can I trust you?”

Kevin teased, “Haven’t I deceived you enough?”

Lying in his arms, Blake playfully complained, “You tell me not to trust anyone. What if I trust him?”

Kevin advised, “Then grow stronger in the next three years and change yourself if you truly want to help me.”

Blake felt confused, unsure of what Kevin wanted from her. She expressed her frustration, “Why can’t you just tell me directly? All this indirect talk is making my head spin.”

Kevin cryptically replied, “One day, you’ll understand. But remember, don’t trust anyone…”

‘Indeed, everyone changes. Kevin, Liam, even myself…’

As she returned home to an empty house as Grace and Simon were at the hospital, Blake entered her room and stood before the mirror. She gazed at the marks on her chest, a vivid reminder of the surreal and tumultuous events of Northern Myanmar.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
