The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1226

The light in Blake’s eyes seemed to fade as she struggled to find her voice, “Was this your plan or Liam’s?”

Cecilia responded with a soft laugh, shaking her head, “You’d break Liam’s heart if he heard you now. You always say he’s different from me, but think about it, what’s your opinion of him now? Remember what I told you? Liam returned to his family for your sake!” Cecilia’s voice was emphatic, “He’s always acted with your best interests in mind. Why don’t you check your phone? See how many messages he’s sent you?”

Since disembarking from the private jet, Blake had kept her phone silenced. Apart from messages from Kevin, she had yet to check any others.

Cecilia left the room, advising,” Freshen up and join me for dinner. We’re heading back to Ventropolis tonight.”

Blake was about to check her phone when she realized it was out of battery. After charging it, she saw that Cecilia was right. Liam had sent her a barrage of messages, nearly forty or fifty, all expressing his concern for her. His constant attention only added to her sense of obligation toward him.

Later, Blake and Cecilia, after having a late lunch at 3 p.m. and gathering their belongings, reboarded the private jet, the bodyguards handling their luggage. As the jet ascended, Blake looked out the window. Cecilia, sitting beside her with eyes closed, commented, “Don’t bother looking. Kevin won’t leave with you. He’s a product of his environment. No amount of gazing will change his nature.”

“And what about you?” Blake retorted. “You’re no saint. Remember, you’ve been in equally harsh places.”

Cecilia spoke nonchalantly, “Life has its classes. If not for Zach, Kevin might still be here, scraping by. Did you know his father was a drug dealer and his mother a hostess? He probably doesn’t even know his real father.”

As Cecilia divulged, Blake’s empathy for Kevin deepened. She thought, ‘So this is his past. The words he couldn’t bring himself to say to me. No wonder he never spoke of his family. But he should know that I’ve never cared about that.’

In a fit of frustration, Blake threw a pillow at Cecilia, “His parents are none of your concern. Worry about yourself instead.”

“What did you just say?” Cecilia’s eyes flashed with anger. “Do you think you can say anything just because you’re my sister?”

Blake scoffed, “Your sister? I’ve never acknowledged you as such. I don’t want a sister as shameless as you.”

With a disdainful glance at Cecilia, Blake moved to another seat. The rest of the flight was smooth. Upon landing, Blake used a private exit to reach the lobby, where she unexpectedly encountered Liam. His worried expression caught her off guard. Approaching her, Liam asked, “Where have you been? Why didn’t you tell anyone? Why didn’t you respond to my messages?”

Cecilia, smiling, joined them briefly, ” Mr. Xander, I didn’t expect such concern for Blake. I’ll leave you two; there’s work waiting for me at the company.”

Once Cecilia and her bodyguards departed, only Blake and Liam remained. Blake, gazing at Liam, pondered Cecilia’s words, a whirl of emotions evident in her expression.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
