Blake continued saying, “Ms. Samford, if you don’t have anything to discuss with me, I’ll have to leave now as I still have work matters to attend to. My apologies.”

Blake came to the company just for work and had no intention of getting involved with Cecilia.

However, Cecilia ignored her request and immediately asked Susan to drive away from the Jardin Tower.

Blake looked at Cecilia with displeasure. “What do you want?”

Cecilia replied, “It’s lunchtime now, and I’ve reserved a table at The Deli.”

Blake resisted the idea of having a meal with Cecilia. “I’m just an assistant, I’m not qualified to have lunch with you. Or have you come up with a new plan to deal with me? Or is it the same as last time; pushing me to the cooperating party you set up?”

Cecilia responded, “All those incidents in the past have been misunderstandings. Now that we’ve finally reunited, let’s forget about the past. I’ll make it up to you. There’s a banquet tonight; I’ll introduce you to some people. It’ll be helpful for you in the future.”

Blake, looking out of the car window, realized that they were indeed heading toward The Deli. She realized Cecilia was not playing games.

Blake rejected Cecilia without hesitation, saying, “I don’t need to meet new people. I just want to focus on my work.”

Cecilia, not angry, turned her head and reached out to pinch Blake’s cheek.” Your angry expression is still as cute as when you were a child. But you’re too thin; you should eat more.

“If you want to stay at StartReading, I won’t force you to leave. I’ll even help you. I’ll support you no matter what you want to do.

“If you don’t want to go to the banquet, it’s fine. But if you accompany me to have lunch now, I’ll tell you about Kevin’s whereabouts, okay?”

Blake was surprised. “You’re not lying, right?”

Cecilia held Blake’s hand. Blake was not used to it, so she tried to withdraw her hand but could not. Cecilia replied, “Of course not. You’re my sister, I wouldn’t lie to you.”

Upon hearing this, Susan was frozen with shock and slammed on the brakes, barely avoiding a collision with the car in front of them.

Cecilia said, “You can’t even drive properly now?”

Susan hurriedly apologized, “I’m sorry. It wasn’t intentional.”

There were no delays on the roads, so they arrived at The Deli very quickly.

The aroma wafted from this beautiful restaurant.

After getting out of the car and entering the restaurant, the manager warmly greeted them, “Ms. Samford, it’s been a long time since we’ve last seen you. We’re pleased to have you here. The private room you reserved is set up with the highest quality decorations. Can we start serving the food now?”

Cecilia nodded. “Go ahead.”

She held Blake’s hand as they entered the private room.

Susan could only sit in the car. She was still trying to digest what she had just heard. ‘Blake is actually Ms. Samford’s sister. How could that be possible? Or is something else going on in this matter?!

‘Ms. Samford’s attitude toward Blake has completely changed.

‘Last week, Ms. Samford even wanted Blake to…

‘What actually happened during Blake’s absence from the company?!’

Blake sat inside the spacious luxury private room that could accommodate over a dozen people. The room was filled with colorful balloons. The decorations created a great atmosphere.

Cecilia, who was sitting beside Blake, opened an expensive bottle of champagne. “Finally, we can have a meal together, just the two of us. Let’s drink a little and celebrate our reunion.

Blake replied, “You know why I came with you. Don’t play games with me.”

Cecilia smiled gently. “Be patient. Let’s eat before we talk about that.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
