The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1213

Blake had just sent out the email, but within just ten minutes, she had already received confirmation that one of their novels had been greenlit for a major film adaptation and television series.

She was not surprised, but she heard cheers outside her office. Perplexed, she shrugged her shoulders.

She thought, ‘It’s just the approval of a project, what’s there to be so overjoyed about?”

However, at that moment, she heard someone outside the door say, “Oh my goodness, I thought our company was almost done for.”

“Yeah! I intended to resign.”

“Mr. Xander hasn’t been in the company for the past two days, and Ms. Dion was absent for over half a month. Our company hasn’t been performing well. My most recent paycheck was only half of what I made in the previous month. I was devastated.”

“Exactly! People from Jardin Corporation have never taken us seriously. Last week, I sent an email to Mr. Xander, and he told me he hasn’t gotten any response from Jardin Corporation yet. And it’s been half a month since that contract matter was brought up, I’m so speechless.”

“I heard that Mr. Xander took leave recently to take care of Ms. Dion, who was sick. If only I had such a good partner. Mr. Xander is simply the epitome of all boyfriends; he’s so good to Ms. Dion, handsome, gentle, and attentive. I’m so jealous.”

“Wait a minute! When did Mr. Xander and Ms. Dion get together? Why didn’t I know? Isn’t the company against office romances?”

“Shh, keep your voices down, don’t let Ms. Dion hear.”

Blake wondered, ‘Have so many people been misunderstanding my relationship with Liam?’

She grabbed her phone and scrolled through her conversation with Kevin. The conversation was mostly filled with her messages, except for the period when she first joined the company. She did not want to switch to a new phone or risk damaging her current one, just so she could keep these chat records. She was afraid that the only thing she had left to help her remember Kevin would be lost.

Blake pondered, ‘If I’d known he’d be away for so long, I would’ve taken more pictures of him back then.’

She only found herself missing him when she was not busy. Now, looking at those messages, a flood of memories suddenly rushed into her mind.

She had not changed; every day, she would take a little time to tell him what she had done and what had happened. It was like talking to herself because Kevin never replied.

Blake took a deep breath and put down her phone. She wanted to focus on her work and strive to become as successful as him in the company.

She was lost in her thoughts, ‘Kevin, no matter how long you disappear, I won’t give up on you. I’ll wait for you to come back!’

After she finished her work for the morning, she walked out of the office and said, “I’ve ordered some snacks for all of you, remember to collect them.”

“Wow, thanks, boss.”

‘Boss?’ Blake thought. This address caught her slightly off guard.

She smiled and nodded. “You’re welcome.”

After that, someone with a strong presence suddenly walked in from outside. Everyone turned to the entrance, and they were all stunned. They quickly stood up and said, “Ms. Samford!”

Cecilia was staring at Blake. “I’m here to talk to Ms. Dion. You’ve all worked hard. So, take a break; you don’t need to mind us.”

A few minutes later, Blake followed Cecilia and left. They took the elevator to the parking lot, where Susan was waiting in the car in the driver’s seat.

Susan was surprised that someone like Blake would even be allowed to sit with Cecilia. However, she held back her emotions as Cecilia was present.

Blake asked, “Why’d you come here? Do you have something to talk to me about?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
