The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1191

Blake woke up sore all over. Last night was her first time after all, and she was not quite used to it yet. She found herself in a new set of pajamas, with Kevin who had been beside her already gone. As she heard noises outside the room, she stopped stretching. Noticing a tube of ointment on the bedside table, Blake picked it up and read the label. It was for reducing swelling and relieving pain.

She thought to herself, ‘This time, he’s been considerate.’

Kevin was busy with something outside. Thinking of his injuries, Blake put on her shoes and got out of bed. She walked over and opened the door. The mess on the dining table in the living room had been cleaned up. Upon seeing Kevin sweeping the floor, Blake approached quietly and hugged him from behind. “Good morning, darling!”

Kevin replied, “There’s soup in the pot. Go drink it now.”

Hearing the unnaturalness in his tone, Blake knew he must be feeling shy. She could even see the redness behind his ears. Their scents were the same, both carrying the fragrance of last night’s shower gel. Now, she felt that she truly belonged to him.

‘If only we could stay like this forever.’ Blake thought as she went and tasted the soup Kevin cooked. It was thick and satisfying. After a bowl, she felt full.

As Kevin continued to tidy up, he picked up a blanket from the messy couch and tossed it into the laundry basket after seeing a stain on it.

“Leave them to me. I’ll wash them,” said Blake.

Kevin suddenly said, “I have to leave for a while.”

Blake asked, “Where are you going?”

Kevin replied, “To do what I must.”

He thought, ‘Now that Cecilia’s men are protecting Mr. Jardin, there shouldn’t be any problems.’

Blake walked up to him. “Why do you only talk about the company and Mr. Jardin? Haven’t you ever thought about us? Marry me! We could start a family and have a cute little baby. Don’t you ever think about these things?”

Kevin’s silence was the clearest answer Blake could get. She added, “What exactly are you thinking, Kevin? Do you want to marry me or not? I don’t want to pressure you, but being with you, I feel so insecure. I’m scared you’ll leave… I’m scared that one day you’ll just disappear. I’m afraid of not hearing from you. I’m even more afraid you’ll leave me alone.”

Blake had never loved someone this much and she just wanted a peaceful life.

Tears fell as she threw herself into his arms. “I’m sorry… I know I shouldn’t lose my temper like this, but I just can’t stand to see you get hurt again.”

“If I don’t do this, no one else can. Once it’s over, I’ll give you an answer,” said Kevin.

With a heavy heart, Blake asked, “Can’t you give me an answer now? If it’s a bad one, I won’t listen. And how long will you be gone this time?”

Kevin replied, “It won’t be long.”

It would be a lie if Kevin said he had no feelings for Blake. But a stable life, to him, was like a distant, unreachable dream. He grew up in a different world, and he felt more like an emotionless robot than a human. He had no home, no friends, no family, no parents. He even knew nothing about his own birth and certainly did not know how to play these roles. Moreover, with things still unresolved, he believed he could not easily make a promise.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
