The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1174

Blake said, “Today? Wasn’t it this weekend? I haven’t prepared at all yet. Won’t it be inappropriate if I go meet your family dressed like this?”

Liam slowed down the car and stopped at the traffic light. He then held Blake’s tightly clenched hands as he gently comforted her, “Don’t worry. It doesn’t matter what you wear. What matters is you’ll be there. Just treat it like a casual family dinner, no pressure.”

Blake looked at her hands being held and calmly pulled them away. She looked out of the car window with a smile on her face. “Okay, as long as you don’t mind me embarrassing myself.”

“Okay.”

When they arrived at the company, they entered the office together.

It seemed like a common sight for those in the company to see them always together.

However, there was much gossip about Blake, especially considering her previous admission of being with Kevin. Now that she had transferred to Start Reading Literary, she was always seen being together with Liam. In a secret group chat, Blake was being called fickle.

Some even placed bets on who Blake would end up with in the end, and people had bet quite a lot of money. Currently, the majority bet that Blake would end up with Liam.

Not long after Blake and Liam entered the office, Blake, as his assistant, reported his schedule for the day to him and helped with some contract agreement documents.

She organized a set of documents and handed them to Liam. “This is the cooperation agreement with Dreamscape Comic Studio, it needs your signature.”

Liam took the documents. His attractive eyes twinkled with a hint of a smile as he looked at her. “Today, your task is still to help me review manuscripts. Also, I need you to keep an eye on a recently launched TV series adapted from a historical novel. I’d like your feedback on a few episodes.”

As he spoke, he grabbed a tablet from nearby and opened the internal channel for Blake. Inside were completed but not yet scheduled TV shows, all adapted from web novels on StartReading Literary’s website.

Blake felt guilty. Since her transfer, she had been spending her time in Liam’s office binge-watching shows and snacking. Even the water she drank was poured by Liam himself.

She quickly shook her head. “There’s a dedicated review department for these matters. I should focus on more serious tasks.”

Then, there was a knock on the office door.

Liam said, “Come in.”

Blake looked at the person entering and was surprised to see Janice. Janice responded, “Hi, Mr. Xander. Blake, Ms. Samford is looking for you.”

Blake replied, “Looking for me? Isn’t she still at the hospital?”

Janice said, “She’s back at the company today.”

Blake glanced at Liam before responding, “Okay, I got it.”

Liam said, “No matter what it is, come back and discuss it with me.”

Blake nodded. “Sure.”

After Blake left with Janice, walking in the company corridor, Janice warned Blake, “Be careful. Susan’s going with you to Ms. Samford’s office. It’s probably about the CEO’s assistant position.”

The Novel will be updated daily. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
