The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1173

Perhaps due to being too exhausted, Blake slept soundly until the next morning. Upon waking up to the alarm, she heard it beep just once before her phone automatically shut down.

She was not in a hurry. The Harper residence was not far away from her office. She got up to freshen up and left her phone charging on the bedside table.

By the time her phone automatically switched on, Blake had already finished freshening up. She then went down for breakfast in her pajamas. She planned to only change her clothes after breakfast.

When the maid carried some medicine and went upstairs, Blake asked, “What is this?”

The maid answered, “This is the herbal medicine for Mr. Harper. He needs to rest in bed, so he isn’t accompanying you for breakfast.”

Blake nodded, “Is he feeling better now?”

“Yes, he can eat now.”

“That’s good.”

Grace walked out of the kitchen holding a plate of cinnamon rolls. ” Blake, you’re awake. Come down and have breakfast.”

Blake had not expected such a hearty breakfast. “There’s so much food; I can’t finish it.”

Grace replied, “Come on, eat more and help me finish it.”

Blake said, “Okay.”

While she was eating her breakfast, Grace suddenly saw a silver car arriving at her house. “Whose car is that?”

Curious, Blake glanced at it and saw the familiar license plate. She was surprised, “Liam?”

The maid quickly went to open the door. Blake hurriedly stood up, and when Liam got out of the car, she walked toward him in her slippers.

“W-Why are you here? Come in.”

Liam said, “I texted you and told you I’d come.”

Blake awkwardly responded, “I’m sorry! My phone ran out of battery and I’m still charging it.”

Grace walked over with a smile, “Is this the Mr. Xander you mentioned last night? Truly talented and young. Would you like to join us for breakfast, Mr. Xander?”

Liam’s complexion today looked good, and his thin lips were red. He smiled slightly as he nodded. “Much appreciated, Mrs. Harper, but I’ve already had breakfast. I’m here to pick Blake up.”

Blake was a little too embarrassed to ask him to leave. She ran her fingers through her hair, still holding a piece of bread in her other hand, and glanced at the half-empty bowl of soup on the table. “Give me ten minutes; I’ll be quick.”

She then ran to the dining table. Grace, watching Blake from behind, shook her head with a smile. “Take your time. No one’s going to take the food away from you.

‘Come on Grace, can’t you read the room?’ Blake thought as she quickly finished drinking the soup and went to change into her work attire, along with the black coat provided by the company. She also grabbed two more pieces of bread before leaving.

Liam opened the front passenger seat door for Blake, and she got into the car.

On the way to the company, Liam suddenly said, “Sorry, Blake. I know this is sudden, but the dinner with my family is happening today.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
