The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1168

Kevin said, “Have you thought it through? Once you’re involved, you won’t be able to get out of it so easily. I won’t be able to protect you if you’re in danger.”

Blake grabbed his hand. “You do know I’ve never been afraid of trouble. Besides, I’ve always been very lucky; no one will hurt me.”

Kevin’s gaze was intense as if he could see through Blake. She, with a determined look, met his gaze. Finally, Kevin said, “Then help me keep an eye on that position, don’t let Cecilia’s influence rise too high.”

“What do you mean? Are you asking me to take your position? But I’m not working at Jardin Corporation now, I can’t do that!” Blake said.

Kevin replied, “There are things that I can’t say too much about. When the time comes, you’ll know what you should do.”

Blake smiled brightly, pressed his shoulder, and kissed him. “I knew that you couldn’t bear to let me go. I’ve never seen someone as stubborn as you. Do you want to try…”

Kevin looked into her bright eyes as he asked in a low voice, “What do you want to do?”

Blake whispered in his ear. Kevin’s expression changed immediately. “Ridiculous. Blake, do you know you’re still unmarried?!”

Blake replied, “With you around, isn’t that changing very soon?”

Then, she eagerly began unbuttoning Kevin’s shirt. “I want to experience what it’s like with a man. I’ve heard people say sleeping with a man feels good. Honestly, before me, have you slept with other women?

“To be honest, last time at your place, I wanted to have sex with you. But out of a sense of modesty, I never made a move. This time, don’t try to escape.”

Blake enthusiastically kissed Kevin who remained still. Kevin frowned as Blake kissed and nibbled on his lips. In the next moment, Blake felt a sharp pain in her neck and suddenly fell unconscious.

Kevin then helped Blake onto the bed and covered her with a blanket. His expression was indescribable as he touched his swollen, numb lips- neither angry nor hesitant. Instead, his eyes were filled with frustration.

“Both your parents are academicians. How did they end up with a daughter like you? Whose genes did you inherit?” he said before thinking, ‘No woman in the whole of Ventropolis is as stubborn and crazy as you.’

Blake rolled and fell off the bed with the blanket. Her buttocks were extremely painful, and when she woke up, she saw Liam’s pale and anxious face. He asked, “Blake, are you okay?”

Blake thought, ‘What’s up with Kevin? Why does he always enjoy knocking me out? What kind of boyfriend just casually knocks out his girlfriend?’

She responded, “I’m fine. Why aren’t you resting on the bed? Why did you wake up? Are you feeling better?” Blake quickly got up from the floor. Just as she reached out to feel Liam’s forehead, she thought about their relationship. To avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings, she withdrew her hand. “Let me help you onto the bed.”

Liam looked disappointed when he saw her withdrawing her hand. There was still a needle mark on the back of his hand.

“I went out for a moment just now. I noticed your room door wasn’t closed, so I came in to check. I didn’t expect you to fall off the bed. Does it hurt?” He asked, his face tinged with concern.

Whenever Blake saw Liam’s eyes filled with broken emotions, she felt guilty. She felt his current illness did not just happen out of the blue; she felt she was responsible. However, she did not know what to say to him.

She responded, “I’m fine. You don’t need to worry about me. Quick, go back to your room; I’ll go call the nurse for you.”

After packing up, Blake went to call the nurse to check Liam’s temperature, and his temperature had already returned to normal.

The nurse looked at the thermometer and said, “His body temperature has returned to normal now. He can be discharged. Just be cautious; he has a history of gastrointestinal bleeding. Pay more attention to his diet during this time and avoid letting him consume foods that could irritate his digestive system.”

Blake silently noted these precautions. “Okay, I got it. Thank you.”

The nurse replied, “You’re welcome. Once this last drip bag is finished, you can proceed with the discharge procedures.”

Blake then followed the nurse downstairs to settle the bill and bought a few things downstairs. When she was returning upstairs, she remembered what happened last night.

After some hesitation and was about to go check out the ward, a group of people suddenly walked out of the other elevator. “Isn’t this the girl from last night? What a coincidence for us to meet again! Are you sick or something? 11

Someone patted Blake on the shoulder. Startled, she almost dropped the things in her hand. She quickly walked away without responding.

“Heh, so timid.”

As the group of people entered the ward, there was an unexpected visitor. Cecilia, sitting in her wheelchair, covered her nose with her hand. She said with a disgusted look, “Judging by the looks of it, he probably won’t wake up, right?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
