The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1158

Kevin seemed to be unsurprised by Cecilia acting borderline obsessive and insane, as if he had expected it all along.

“What a damn eyesore,” Cecilia said, plucking the silver ring off Zach’s ring finger and casually tossing it on the ground.

“That belongs to Mr. Jardin, Cecilia. Don’t you think he’ll punish you after he wakes up?” Kevin asked.

Cecilia said casually, “Madelyn keeps hurting Zach more and more. With his personality, he won’t let Madelyn, that useless bitch, off the hook. Anyway, I’ll allow you to visit Zach since you’ve been working with him for many years, but don’t bring in anyone else.

“I can’t let Madelyn off easily for attempting to kill Zach. Soon, I’ll report it to the police, have her arrested, and make sure she spends the rest of her life in jail. I want her to see how I am with Zach and regret it for the rest of her life!”

Kevin furrowed his brow, “Ms. Samford, I’m afraid this might disappoint you. Mr. Jardin anticipated this earlier. Before the wedding, he had instructed the legal team to ensure that no one was allowed to harm Mrs. Jardin, no matter what happened.”

“What did you say?” Cecilia’s expression suddenly became fierce, and she could not hide the shock in her eyes.

She stood before Kevin and asked, ” Zach anticipated this earlier? How is that even possible? What’s he up to? Tell me! Why!?” Cecilia lost her mind, on the verge of going completely mad!

Kevin lowered his gaze, looking at Cecilia before him, “Ms. Samford, we both know very well what Mr. Jardin intends to do.”

After Kevin left, furious voices echoed in the ward.

‘Honestly, I have no idea what Mr. Jardin was up to. He even gambled with his life.’

It was already 8:30 PM when Kevin returned home and noticed the lights were still on. Upon unlocking the door with his fingerprint, he saw Blake sitting cross-legged on the couch. She was holding a bag of potato chips and laughing joyously while watching a boring variety show. Seeing the snack crumbs scattered on the couch, Kevin frowned.

Blake glanced back at the returning person. “Why are you back so late? The dishes are already cold. Let me heat them up for you.”

Blake brushed off the potato chip crumbs from her clothes and stood up. Holding the dishes, she walked into the kitchen and popped them in the microwave to warm up.

Seeing the once tidy blanket now in disarray with a pillow on the floor, Kevin pinched his brow with a headache. “I’m going to take a shower. Make sure you clean up after eating.”

“What do you mean? Don’t you want to eat? I cooked all this for you myself,” Blake said as Kevin entered the room. He closed the door, removed his jacket, and unbuttoned his shirt. Unexpectedly, the door swung open instantly. Blake was startled at the sight of Kevin covered in scars.

“You…” Some of the scars on Kevin’s body were from knife wounds, densely packed and impossible to count. There were also marks on his back, close to his heart, seemingly from gunshot wounds.

‘Oh my goodness, what has he been through?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
