The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1157

Blake watched as Kevin’s tall figure walked away. For some reason, she felt like Kevin had changed a bit. After three seconds, it suddenly hit her like a ton of bricks. She mumbled, “He… It seems like he didn’t mind my chatter! Usually, he’d be scolding me by now.” Blake felt inexplicably happy inside.

Kevin was not around, so Blake checked out everything in his home. She noticed he had not even tossed out the indoor slippers she wore before. This pair of indoor slippers was the first thing Kevin had bought for her.

She looked it up online and found the slippers were custom-made. The official price was over five hundred dollars. All her slippers at home had been cheaply bought from street vendors. She immediately took them off and put on the warm slippers.

Half an hour after Kevin left, Blake heard a knock on the door. She turned off the stove and cautiously checked through the peephole. It was that frail lady, Audrey. ‘What’s she here for?’

Blake checked her appearance in the entryway mirror. She fixed her hair, shed her jacket to reveal a sexy white camisole, and opened the door.

She pretended to assume it was Kevin and said, “Darling, how’d you get back so fast?”

Upon hearing a familiar voice and seeing the person who came out was Blake, Audrey still maintained a calm and composed smile, “Ms. Harper?”

Blake leaned lazily against the door with arms crossed. “Oh, it’s Ms. Parker! What brings you here? Come on in! I’m whipping up some dinner. Kevin won’t be back for another hour, but you can stay for dinner if you’d like.”

“It’s okay. I’m here to return something.” Audrey lifted the bag in her hand. “This is the suit Mr. Harrison left in my car last time. I washed it and brought it back.”

Blake said, “Gosh, Kevin’s so careless. How could he just forget his clothes? Thanks so much for bringing it over, Ms. Parker.”

Audrey smiled gently, “No worries, it’s the least I can do. Well, I won’t disturb you any longer. Goodbye.”

“I won’t see you off then,” Blake replied. Then, she closed the door and pulled the suit out of the bag. It had a hint of women’s perfume on it.

‘I wonder what the deal is with Audrey and Kevin? Are they a thing now? Kicking her out was rather satisfying. To be honest, I never really liked Audrey. She randomly provoked me on the street last time, so consider this payback.’

Ah, how easy it is to play dumb.” Blake mumbled before turning her attention to the kitchen. She hummed a tune while cooking a few dishes.

SereneCare Hospital reserved a floor of wards. In one of the wards, the person in bed was wearing a hospital gown with a face mask, still unconscious. Cecilia sat beside him and gently wiped his fingertips with a warm towel. ” From now on, you don’t have to come over any more. I’ll take care of Zach.”

Kevin asked, “Was it your idea to replace the dismissed bodyguard?”

Cecilia gazed softly at Zach, “I just don’t want those sketchy individuals getting too close to him. I know you’re loyal to him, but he’s mine and mine alone now.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
