The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1144

Madelyn saw the sharp dagger burying itself into Zach’s heart. Then, with wide eyes, she watched as he fell. She screamed at him, “Zach!”

Madelyn started crying. She did not dare to touch him and did not know why she was crying.

“Zach, you can’t die. I’ll call the doctor for you,” Madelyn said.

She then applied pressure carefully on the wound and cried out, “Help! Help! Is anyone there? Someone, please come! Please come and save him!”

Everyone outside heard the commotion, and the bodyguards immediately rushed in. They saw the bloodied person on the person and panicked. Then, they immediately called for an ambulance. Thankfully, there were medical personnel around, and Kai was among them. During the commotion, he grabbed Madelyn’s hand and left the building.

Kai earnestly told Madelyn, “There are two choices left for you. The first is to not care about anything and leave now. You have three minutes until Kevin arrives. The second is to go back to Zach and continue the life that you used to have. Regardless of what you choose, I’ll always be on your side. I’ll bear all of the responsibility regardless of whether Zach dies.”

Madelyn was currently in a shambles and covered in blood. However, she was not injured. Even though Madelyn wanted to kill him, Zach could never bring himself to hurt her. This Zach was totally different from the Zach she had known in the past. It seems he had genuinely fallen for her. However, Kai had no right to comment or interfere in their matters.

In the end, Madelyn chose to leave. The moment she sat in the car, she looked back at the Eternal Seasons. The decorations from yesterday stayed; it all seemed like a dream to Madelyn. It felt like something happened, yet nothing had happened. However, the blood on her spoke of the truth. She had killed Zach with her own hands.

The car proceeded to move farther away. From the shadows, Blake watched the car disappear from the horizon. She thought, ‘I hope you live happily ever after.’

The moment Kevin received the phone call, his expression grew cold. When he walked into the room, he saw Zach lying in a pool of blood. A streak of panic flashed across his face, but he swiftly calmed down. He first locked down any news leaks on the Eternal Seasons and had the bodyguards disperse all the waiting staff.

The moment Zach was carried into the ambulance, Kevin already had someone clean up the blood stains in the room without leaving any trace. The owner, Mr. Musk, pretended not to know. He was just terrified that someone had snuck into the Eternal Seasons and tried to murder the newlyweds. However, no one expected the murderer to be Madelyn.

The paramedic immediately put Zach on a breathing device in the ambulance and gave him a blood transfusion.

Kevin had been prepared for numerous scenarios. He expected Madelyn to drug Zach and try to escape when he was unconscious. He did not expect her to attempt to murder him.

Suddenly, Kevin was reminded of what Zach had told him two days before.

‘Could this be a part of Mr. Jardin’s plan? Using his life as a gamble to see if she’d stay? Mr. Jardin did all this for a woman! How absurd!’ Kevin thought.

Susan secretly followed the ambulance to the hospital. She made a phone call when she saw Zach being sent through a secret entrance.

Cecilia sat by the sick bed, eating a sliced apple. The nurse in her room was carrying a bowl of soup to her. After half a minute, the phone rang.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
