The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1141

Madelyn said with guilt, “I’m sorry. I can’t let the same thing happen again this time. I cannot continue to stay by your side.”

She shook her head and continued, We both know you never loved me, Zach. If this continues, we’ll just keep tormenting each other.”

The effect of the aphrodisiac was still strong, but Zach held onto his consciousness with sheer willpower. He warned her, “If you dare take another step forward, I’ll destroy Ethan until nothing is left.”

Zach was still trying to bluff her since he had not found Ethan’s location. Though, Madelyn knew where he was.

She said again, “I’m sorry.”

“Try and leave! With just one phone call, you won’t be able to escape ever again,” Zach threatened her.

Madelyn stared back at him. When she saw the phone on his bedside table, she did not hesitate to try to grab it from him. She could not let him make that call. If Zach had called for more backup, Madelyn would not have had another chance to run away. However, she did not know she was falling into Zach’s trap.

His phone was already out of battery.

Zach grabbed hold of Madelyn. Even though he was drugged, he was still very strong. Madelyn could not believe him, “You lied to me!”

“Madelyn, why won’t you learn from your mistakes?” Zach chastised her.

“Let go! Let me go!” Madelyn screamed while struggling. She shoved Zach off of her to escape. When she reached the door, Zach pulled her back by the hair. Madelyn felt her world spinning before she crashed onto the bed.

Zach pulled a dagger out of thin air, and Madelyn saw that his palm was bleeding. Turns out, he was trying to stay conscious by using pain. She saw him walking over with a dagger, and panic rose in her chest. She asked, ” What are you doing? Do you want to kill me?”

Zach approached her with a sinister look and said, “How could I bring myself to kill you? I just want to slice your ankles so you won’t run away again.”

“You’re insane! You’ve gone crazy!” Madelyn shrieked.

Zach shouted back at her, “Madelyn, Why do you keep running away from me!”

Madelyn kept shrieking while throwing anything she could pick up at him. A table lamp flew and hit Zach right on the forehead. Blood trickled down his forehead, but he did not seem to be in pain.

Zach grabbed Madelyn by the ankles. Just as he swung his dagger, she broke free. Madelyn hid herself in the corner of the wall.

She had nowhere to go, but she could see that Zach was exhausted. He ended up falling over as his strength left him.

“Madelyn, what should I do?” He asked while panting.

“Mmm?” Madelyn asked.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
