The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1138

The liquid was composed of ninety percent sedatives; just a little was enough to anesthetize an adult man. The wine was prepared in advance for Zach.

Madelyn changed into a white fishtail dress with diamonds before going downstairs. She followed Zach to toast important guests.

They met with the big shots in the political and business circles and toasted with them. Everyone was smiling and exchanging blessings.

Zach handled the conversations with ease and confidence. Madelyn was merely accompanying him.

They toasted with a lot of people. When they accidentally touched each other through their clothes, Madelyn could feel his body burning hot. It was the effect of the alcohol.

Zach had indeed drunk a lot. Madelyn was allergic to alcohol; she drank tea instead. Finally, they had finished toasting the people they needed to.

Madelyn had been up since around four in the morning. She had started the day with a bowl of spaghetti cooked by Zach.

When she returned to her room, she felt exhausted and sleepy. Zach drank the hangover soup brought by Kevin as he received an important document from him. With his eyes closed, Zach laid on the sofa while massaging his temples, “Let’s discuss this later. How’s the situation out there?”

Watching Madelyn eat her meal slowly, Kevin hesitated.

Zach, still relatively sober, stood up and took a step forward. He swayed a little, and Kevin reached out to support him. The two then walked outside.

Madelyn could faintly hear something.

Kevin reported the day’s situation to Zach, “All surveillance devices are functioning normally. We haven’t detected any strange personnel. The security personnel have also been verified; they’re all our people.”

Zach looked like he was having a headache, “We have to stay alert even though there’s nothing unusual. Remember, no one is allowed on this floor.”

Kevin nodded, “Got it.”

“Go ahead and do your work.”

“Okay, Mr. Jardin.”

Madelyn always ate slowly, even if she was hungry. She heard footsteps approaching her. Zach suddenly dragged a chair over, sat beside her, and lifted her onto his lap, “You seem very hungry.”

He reeked of alcohol. At the time, Madelyn had not removed her makeup. He took a spoonful of food and tried to feed it to her. Madelyn hesitated but did not open her mouth.

“The guests still haven’t left. Don’t get crazy.”

Zach ran his rough fingertips on her body. His eyes were filled with passion, “Continue eating, no rush. We have plenty of time.”

He continued, “Why is it so peaceful today? Do you not want to leave anymore? Or do you have other plans? Are you planning to sedate me, or do you want to kill me and leave?”

Zach stared into her eyes as if he could see through her. Madelyn calmly looked away, “Aren’t you happy that I’m not leaving? The sedative is in that bottle of red wine. Do you want to try it and see if you’ll become unconscious?

“I won’t kill you. Unlike you, I’m not a murderer.”

Zach caught Madelyn off guard when he fed the food into her mouth. He smiled with an eerie expression that sent shivers down Madelyn’s spine, ” Madelyn, I’m a murderer trained by your father. I’m not innocent, but you are, and that’s what matters. I’ll always protect you.”

As he said that, he used his thumb to clean the corner of her mouth.

He asked, “Are you full?”

Madelyn knew what he was going to do next. However, he did not give her a chance to respond. He suddenly kissed her lips. The moment he saw her in that dazzling wedding gown earlier, looking beautiful, he almost lost control of his sexual desire.

He easily tore apart her white dress with just one hand.

Madelyn allowed Zach to have sex with her. Although mentally prepared, she was still nervous when it happened. She realized she could not resist it at all.

The expensive, elegant wedding gown was torn into pieces, falling to the ground. Zach and Madelyn continued making love.

The sky was dark, and the day was coming to an end soon.

Madelyn experienced an overwhelming sense of pleasure.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
