The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1131

Seeing the weather outside was so good today, Cecilia’s mood improved too, How about we make a bet? Let’s bet on whether the wedding the day after tomorrow can proceed smoothly.”

“Well…” Blake hesitated and asked, ” Ms. Samford, why would you say that? Don’t tell me you think Ma…”

She did not fully say Madelyn’s name and immediately changed her words, ” Do you think Ms. Jent is planning to run away from her wedding the day after tomorrow? That can’t be! Mr. Jardin and his wife have such a good relationship. How could she possibly run away? Besides, they’ve already got their marriage certificate. If she were to run away, it wouldn’t make sense! They can’t get divorced and are bound to be together for life.”

Cecilia put down the carrot ginger soup in her hand and said, “Did you forget how Mr. Jardin’s former wife divorced him? The marriage certificate is just a piece of paper. If he speaks up, he can cancel everything. As long as he wishes, he can replace the position of his wife with anyone at any time.

“He is dumb. He could have married anyone, but he chose her!”

‘Madelyn, I don’t know if fate has a hand in this or if your life is meant to follow this path. However, no matter what, you and Zach can never be together. Why is he so persistent about you? He did it in the past life and continues in this one.

‘February 14th isn’t just your wedding day, but your memorial anniversary! Madelyn, celebrating your wedding on your death anniversary, you better remember this for the rest of your life. Even if Zach temporarily ties the knot with you, in the end, the one he chooses will still be me. If he can abandon you once, he’ll do it again.’

After Blake returned to the company, she was absentminded. She walked with her head low. As she turned the corner, she collided with Kevin’s sturdy chest. Unlike her usual self, Blake did not exclaim loudly. Instead, she touched her forehead and walked to the side without lifting her head.

Kevin said coldly, “Keep your eyes on the road.”

“Okay,” Blake responded.

Kevin stared at the departing figure. Beside him, Susan remarked, “Blake sure is acting high and mighty. But after visiting Ms. Samford, I noticed that she always looks lifeless. I wonder if she’s up to something shady.”

Kevin lowered his head with a warning look on his face, “Working hours aren’t the place for you to speak out of turn. Watch your tone.”

Susan hurriedly said, “Okay, Mr. Harrison. I won’t do it next time.”

Kevin walked into the office with one hand in his pocket and knocked on Blake’s desk with the other, “Come to my office with me.”

Blake quickly looked up, ‘Isn’t he outside? When did he come back? This jerk is starting to nitpick with me again.

As if accepting her fate, Blake followed Kevin into his office. Throughout the day, besides his assistant Susan, she was the one who entered Kevin’s office the most.

Most people who went in there ended up fired. However, it was strange and unique, Blake visited Kevin’s office multiple times a day without any issues.

Once, someone even witnessed Blake scolding Kevin harshly. Instead of retaliating, he chose to swallow his pride and keep quiet. If someone told this to ten other people at the company, none of them would believe it.

After dismissing Susan, Kevin asked, ” What did Cecilia say to you? Do you have something on your mind?”

Blake felt a bit annoyed. Kevin poured a glass of water and placed it in front of her. She looked up at him and said, What’s up? Are you trying to get me to spill the beans?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
