The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1121

Blake said, “I’m fine, don’t worry. I’m sharp-witted, and I know what needs to be done.”

Kevin raised his hand to check the time. He turned to knock on the door of the ward before opening the door to walk in. “Time’s up. Blake, you can leave now.”

Blake responded, “I don’t want to leave. I haven’t finished talking to Madelyn yet.”

Madelyn said, “It’s fine. Zach won’t be back for a while. Just stay here with me for a little longer.”

Blake agreed, “That’s right.”

Kevin felt Blake was taking advantage of her relationship with Madelyn. He nodded, “Mrs. Jardin, if you feel unwell, call me. I’ll be just outside the door.”

Madelyn replied, “Okay.”

Kevin glanced at Blake’s triumphant expression and chose to ignore her as he left the ward.

This floor was fully guarded, and regular people could not just enter easily. Kevin listened to the laughter coming from the ward and thought, ‘I have to admit, Blake’s good at flattering people.’

About half an hour later, Blake, afraid that Zach might suddenly return, quickly packed up and left the ward.

She looked at Kevin who was instructing the bodyguards nearby. When she passed by him, she said, ” Scumbag.”

Kevin stopped talking and grabbed Blake whom he thought was unruly. He continued saying to the assistant, ” That’s all for now. Go and handle it immediately.”

The assistant responded, “Okay.”

Blake, flustered, said, “Why are you grabbing me? If you don’t let go of me, I’ll shout!”

Kevin frowned as he stared at her. “So inappropriate. Blake, when’ll you change this temperament of yours? So noisy.”

Blake retorted, “I’m loud and noisy, so what? Am I bothering you? Yes, I don’t speak as gently as your Ms. Parker! So go to hell!”

She then stomped on Kevin’s leather shoe hard and left briskly. Kevin looked at the shoe print on his shoe and frowned slightly. Blake did not expect to encounter the person she absolutely did not want to run into while waiting for the elevator.

She became very tense the moment the elevator doors opened.

She said, “Hi, Mr. Jardin!”

Zach had a very strong presence, and his intense gaze alone could intimate people.

He responded, “Hmm.”

Blake stood straight as if she was attending morning assembly in school. In the brief duration of two to three seconds, the intense emotional turmoil she experienced felt as though it had stretched across a much longer period.

With her eyes closed, she said in one breath, “Mr. Jardin, when I went back to the office to get Ms. Samford’s laptop today, I saw intimate photos of you and her in the drawer, as well as a picture of your back in a hotel with her lying on the bed set as the desktop background on Ms. Samford’s laptop. Today, I also saw Ms. Samford’s medical examination report, indicating she’d been pregnant for a month or two. So, I’d like to ask, is that child yours?”

She thought she would not get a response from the mighty Zach, after all, she was just an insignificant employee of his.

Moreover, considering the things she had done in the company before this, not getting fired was already considered fortunate.

To her surprise, she heard a cold voice from behind her.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
