The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1111

Madelyn stood up unsuspectingly and said, “Alright, I understand.”

When she left with the nurse, she noticed that something was off after walking for a while. They were not heading toward the blood test lab at all.

The corridor was quiet, and the lights were dim. Madelyn stopped in her tracks and questioned the fake nurse, ” You’re not a nurse from this hospital. Who the hell are you?”

The fake nurse knew she had been exposed. She immediately turned around and ran toward the other emergency exit. Madelyn gave chase and found out that both emergency exits were locked. When she returned to take the elevator, the elevator continued to go up. However, it got stuck halfway. She was stuck in the elevator.

Madelyn banged on the elevator door and shouted, “Is anyone there!? Open the door!”

‘No wonder the fake nurse used the stairs. The elevator was broken. Who was she anyway? Was it Yvonne? It couldn’t be her. She was still having her surgery. She couldn’t have reached her so fast,’ Madelyn thought.

Suddenly, Madelyn caught a whiff of a strange odor coming from the ventilation shaft. After a while, her body felt heavy, and she fainted.

When Kai found Lana, Lana was being pestered for directions by a man. The man was up to no good, but thankfully Kai arrived in time.

“I’ll be careful next time. It felt suffocating in the house, so I thought I’d take a walk outside,” Lana explained.

Kai replied, “The next time you go out, call me. If not, have the nanny accompany you. I worry whenever you go out alone.”

During their conversation, the nanny brought out the last dish. Kai asked her, “What about Madelyn? Why isn’t she here?”

The nanny proceeded to inform him about Madelyn’s absence, “A nurse came just now and said there was an issue with Mrs. Jardin’s blood report. She was gone for a while and has yet to return.”

Kai furrowed her brows and thought, ” How could there be an issue? The report for her examinations was sent to me five minutes ago.’

“Something’s not right, Lana. Don’t leave this place regardless of what happens. I need to go check something out for a bit,” Kai told her. Before Lana could call him out, Kai had already left while calling someone.

Everything happened in a flash. It seems they have been targeting Madelyn since the start. Kai contacted the security department and searched through the surveillance footage. The last place he saw Madelyn leave was by the staircase. Any footage after that was lost.

At the same time, someone cried out, ” Oh my god, there’s a fire!”

The nurse on duty rushed from upstairs while covering her mouth. She told Kai, “Dr. Stewart, a fire has occurred upstairs.”

“Is there anyone upstairs?” Kai asked.

The nurse shook his head and replied, ” No, I didn’t see anyone go upstairs. I thought of trying to put out the fire, but it grew so fast, I couldn’t extinguish it. The fire hose reel had been tampered with, so I came here to inform everyone.”

“Alright, go and call emergency services. I’ll go upstairs and take a look, “Kai ordered.

“Be careful, Dr. Stewart,” the nurse advised Kai. As Kai ran upstairs, the nurse’s gaze turned malicious.

When Kai reached the floor upstairs, heavy smoke blew past him. If Madelyn were to die here, Zach would have his head for it. Kai felt something by his feet and picked it up. It turned out to be a ring.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
