The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1110

Kai asked, “Is everything okay?”

The nurse gave a quick nod. “All good. I’m off to fetch the meds.” In her mind, she pondered, ‘That medicine hasn’t seen the light of day in ages. Why’s it being used for this patient?’

Just then, a voice called out, “Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Jardin!”

Kai glanced up, his eyebrows raised slightly, as he heard voices outside.

“Ah, what a surprise!” As Zach and Madelyn walked in, he poured two cups of water, sliding one toward Madelyn. ” Here, I added some brown sugar to this one. It’ll help warm you up.”

Madelyn smiled in thanks.

“So, what brings you here today?” Kai knew they usually had a reason.

Madelyn turned to Zach. “You go handle your stuff.”

Zach, needing to step out but reluctant to leave Madelyn alone, decided it was best that she stay here.

The evening sun set, reflecting the recent mix of warm and chilly weather. Zach, wanting to keep Madelyn cozy, shrugged off his suit jacket and draped it over her shoulders.

“Stay put for a bit, okay? Don’t go anywhere. I’ll come find you soon. Just be patient.”

Madelyn barely had time to react when Kai, slightly frazzled by their close interaction, said, “You two could be a bit more mindful of others around you.”

Zach said, “Keep an eye on her. If anything happens, it’s on you.”

Kai replied, “Relax. She’s not going to vanish into thin air.”

Once Zach was gone, Madelyn’s demeanor transformed as she gently touched her cheek, remembering Zach’s touch. “I bumped into Yvonne.”

Kai paused at her words while he was fetching a new, unused blanket for the couch. “You really shouldn’t be meeting with her, Madelyn. It’s best for you to stay away. Zach’s past is still a touchy subject, and she’s in a bad state. She’s been disfigured, so there’s no telling what she’ll do out of desperation.”

Madelyn held the warm cup, her fingers tracing the glass. “I’m aware. I just needed to ask her something.”

“I understand you want to ask about Ethan’s location, but there’s something she’s keeping under wraps. Don’t worry though, I’m on it. I’m trying to slowly coax Ethan’s whereabouts out of her. We need to play it cool, especially around Zach.”

Madelyn nodded in agreement. “Got it.

And thanks for last night’s help.”

Kai’s smile broadened. “Don’t mention it. How about joining us for dinner? Lana’s almost done with her check-up. I’ve had the caretaker whip up some of your favorite dishes.”

About thirty minutes later, having wrapped up his paperwork, Kai led the way to dinner. The lower level housed Kai and Lana’s living quarters, a cozy setup within the hospital. Space was one thing the hospital had plenty of.

As they descended the stairs, they noticed that Lana was conspicuously absent. Kai asked about her whereabouts, and the caretaker informed him, “Mrs. Stewart mentioned she wanted to go on a brief walk nearby, and she hasn’t returned yet. I’ll bring Mrs. Stewart back soon.”

“Don’t worry, I’m aware of where she might be.” Kai turned to Madelyn. “Go ahead and start your meal. I’ll come back quickly.”

Madelyn, familiar from her previous visits, was well-known to the caretaker.

“Mrs. Jardin, perhaps you’d like to start with some fruit? Dinner will be ready in a little while,” the caretaker said.

Madelyn responded with a gentle nod and a smile.

Shortly after Kai left, a nurse wearing a mask appeared at the door. She knocked and said, “Mrs. Jardin, we’ve processed your medical check-up, but there’s a glitch with the blood test results. We’ll need you to come back for another test.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
