The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1106

After the doctor left, Madelyn’s eyes fluttered open. She saw Zach talking to the caretaker at the door.

When Zach came in, Madelyn, her head still spinning, sat up in bed. She dodged his hand as he reached out and, while looking away, said, “Go wash off that smell, okay?”

Zach covered her with the blanket. ” You skipped dinner, so I got someone to make oatmeal for you. It’s almost ready. Try to eat more next time, alright? I’ll be back after a quick shower.”

Madelyn stayed silent.

Zach left his suit on the bed before heading to the shower. Weakly, Madelyn got out of bed and grabbed the suit. She sniffed it and caught the smell of gasoline. She was right. She knew Zach had been out in the middle of the night, probably on some risky mission.

Feeling upset, Madelyn threw the suit aside and went to her art studio to call Kai. Kai was on his way home when he received Madelyn’s call.

When he answered, Madelyn’s worried voice came through. “Do you know where Zach went? Why did he smell like gasoline? Did he…” She stopped, searching for the right words, then continued, “Did Zach do something bad?”

Kai said soothingly, “Just breathe, Maddie. Let me explain.

“Maddie, you know how you’ve been feeling like someone’s watching you? It’s not just your imagination. Yvonne has been secretly keeping an eye on you. Remember when the power cut out at the villa? That shadow you saw was real–it was Yvonne. And Maddie, Yvonne’s not gone like we thought she was.”

Madelyn gasped and her hand flew to her mouth. A mix of surprise, joy, and disbelief flashed in her eyes as she processed the news.

Kai kept talking. “Yvonne almost hurt you last time. Zach was only trying to help you out. I made it in time, though, and everyone’s fine. You wouldn’t believe how much Zach has changed, especially when the situation involves you.”

Madelyn, sounding unsure, asked, “If Yvonne’s still around, do you think Ethan might be too?”

Kai took a moment, knowing she was still holding on. “Sometimes, no news is good news. No one’s found him yet, so he might be out there, just like Yvonne.”

Madelyn suddenly felt lighter, like she could finally hope again. The mystery about Ethan had always been a heavy thought for her. She hung up and just stood at the window, thinking for what seemed like forever.

Zach came out of the bathroom and noticed the bed was empty. With a puzzled frown, he stepped into the art studio. His eyes landed on Madelyn standing by the window, and he paused.

Madelyn turned and saw Zach silently standing behind her. She just walked past him, not uttering a word.

Zach frowned at her silence. “Is there really nothing you want to ask me?”

Looking at him with steady eyes, Madelyn replied, “You never tell me the truth anyway. I’m really tired. Let’s just call it a night.”

Back in her room, Madelyn noticed the maid coming in with a bowl of oatmeal. Zach took over, spoon-feeding her until it was all gone. As sleepiness washed over Madelyn, Zach placed the bowl on the nightstand. He was about to leave when she suddenly grabbed his sleeve. “Stay, please.”

Her voice was faint but Zach heard every word.

“Zach, you have to stop hurting others.

Zach watched her as she slept, murmuring in her dreams. His eyes showed a hint of emotion. In the stillness of the room, he finally whispered, “I will.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
