Kai, feeling disgusted, wiped the blood off Yvonne’s face. “Clean up your wounds and come to the hospital. You’d better not break your promise, or no one will be able to help you this time.

He then climbed into Zach’s car.

“Zach, did you skip your meds today? You’re acting so recklessly. I mean, why aren’t you taking care of your marriage instead of getting mixed up in all this dangerous stuff? Maddie was worried about you, which is why I’m here. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known about your wild behavior.”

As Kai noticed Zach silently cleaning his hands, his irritation grew. ”

Maddie’s usually right about these things. You sneaking out at night? Definitely up to no good.”

Zach, trying to rest, closed his eyes.” You’re being noisy.”

Kai chuckled. “I’m just looking out for you, man.” He grabbed Zach’s wrist, checking his pulse. A moment later, he moved it away. “You seem okay, just a bit stressed. Try to chill out a bit. And hey, clean off that gasoline smell before we get back. Maddie will know something’s up if she smells it.”

Kai looked over at Zach, who was dozing off. ‘He’s amazing, getting mixed up in things like this even when he’s exhausted. If only he had been nicer to Maddie from the beginning, she might not have turned her back on him.’

Zach arrived at Southern Haven Villas around eleven at night.

Margaret said, “Ms. Jent, it’s super late. You should get some rest, or you’ll be exhausted tomorrow.”

Madelyn replied, “I’m okay, Margaret. Why don’t you take Dal to bed?”

Zach’s car rolled into the driveway, and Margaret let out a sigh of relief. She thought to herself, ‘Mr. Jardin’s finally back. I bet he and Ms. Jent have a lot to discuss. She’s been pretty down since he left. He’s definitely going to get an earful.’ Deciding it was best to give them space, Margaret headed upstairs.

Madelyn pulled her shawl back up and stepped outside, watching the car park.

Zach got out and sent his bodyguards away with a wave. He then walked up to Madelyn. “Aren’t you tired? Why are you still up?”

Madelyn stared at Zach, her eyes full of suspicion. “Where have you been? Did you get into trouble again? You smell like gasoline.”

It was like she knew what he had been up to. Her thoughts were clear: Zach was always getting into serious trouble. In her mind, there was little doubt that he had done something bad while he had been away.

Feeling cold all of a sudden, Madelyn backed away. “Stay away from me, Zach! You’re freaking me out!” She was so scared and did not want to be near him. Turning to leave, she suddenly felt woozy and fell to the ground.

“Madelyn!” Zach shouted, quickly catching her before she hit the floor.

The family doctor arrived quickly. “Ms. Jent will be fine with some food and rest. It’s just a case of low blood sugar.”

Zach nodded at the doctor. “Thank you for coming.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
