The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1067

Kevin explained, “Audrey is the daughter of the mayor of Ventropolis, and some of our company’s projects require the mayor’s approval.”

‘Hmph, fine!’ Blake thought. She smiled at Kevin, then casually tossed the half-empty water bottle she had just finished drinking onto him.

“Sorry! It’s past work hours now. Go visit her yourself if you want to. I’m not tagging along as a third wheel.”

Next to them was SereneCare Hospital. It was convenient for Blake to have dinner around here as she could easily walk home in about fifteen to twenty minutes. She pulled twenty bucks from her pocket and handed it to Kevin.

“This is for the ride.”

Then, Blake swiftly opened the car door, got out, and closed the door. She did not look back as she left.

‘I must be out of my mind. Instead of going home, I remained hungry without eating and followed him to this place.’

Blake entered a restaurant at the end of the street. After placing her bag, she immediately ordered a full table’s worth of dishes.

Kevin watched from nearby as she placed the order.

After a few minutes, the car had already disappeared when Blake looked over again. She glared angrily and forcefully broke the fork in her hand into two pieces. ‘What am I still expecting at this point!?’

Just as the waiter was serving Blake’s dishes, back on the set, Liam finished shooting and scanned his surroundings, as if looking for someone.

Olivia brought a bottle of water over to him and said, “You’ve worked hard. We’re done for today, and I made a reservation at that restaurant you like.”

Liam asked, “Where is she?”

Olivia realized who he was asking about, “She’s already left. Do you need her for something?”

Liam noticed the medicine Blake had forgotten to take and said to Olivia, ” You can go home first.”

Liam called Blake and asked, “Are you there alone?”

Blake said, “Yes, it’s just me. Wanna come over?”

“Okay.” Liam smiled when he received the address Blake sent. He said to Olivia, “I’m off.”

“But…” Before Olivia finished, Liam had already walked away and could not notice the unusual emotion in her eyes.

Blake worried the dishes would get cold quickly, so she asked the waiter to reheat them. When Liam arrived, it was almost nine o’clock.

He apologized, “Sorry I’m late.”

Blake said, “It’s okay, let’s eat. I don’t know what you like, so I ordered what I myself enjoy eating. Feel free to order a few more dishes if you want.”

Liam preferred mild flavors and rarely ate spicy food. During his time in the hospital, he had been consuming bland liquid food, and he had gotten used to it. After a while, Blake remembered he could not handle spicy food, while all the dishes she had ordered so far were spicy. She promptly asked the waiter for dishes more suited to his taste and ordered an alcoholic fruit juice for herself.

After the meal, Blake finally satisfied her hunger and patted her round belly. Liam carried a women’s bag and followed beside her. “If you like it here, we can come again next time.”

“Sure! Their sweet potato casserole is great.”

The neon lights bathed the street as Liam and Blake strolled among pedestrians, easily spotted in the crowd. Simultaneously, Kevin returned from dinner and got back into his car. However, there was a woman in the passenger seat.

While waiting for the traffic light to turn green, Kevin looked at the people crossing the street and spotted Blake’s bright smile. She was walking backward, talking excitedly to the man beside her. Kevin noticed that the man walking with her kept a close eye on their surroundings while simultaneously listening to her attentively, never getting tired of her talking.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
