The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 1056 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1056

Zach normally detached himself from day-to-day staff issues at Jardin Corporation and dealt only with major company decisions.

He felt that if minor problems required his intervention, it was a sign the company needed an overhaul. He paid high salaries for efficiency, not for employees to create drama.

To Zach, incompetence had no place in Jardin Corporation.

When Kevin arrived at the secretary’s office, he was greeted by a scene of chaos. Blake, usually composed, was now in a fight with Susan, who was visibly battered.

Kevin asked in disbelief, “Blake, are you acting out because I wasn’t here?”

He pulled Blake away, noticing the bloodied and bruised state of her neck.

Blake shot back, “Yes, I am. What are you going to do? Fire me?”

Kevin’s expression darkened, chilling Blake to the core. She had never seen him this serious. Her bravado faltered, replaced by a sense of guilt.

As Susan was hoisted up, Kevin, visibly frustrated, declared, “Take her to the hospital. I’ll cover all her medical expenses.”

His decision sparked whispers among the staff.

“Why is Mr. Harrison paying out of his pocket?”

“Could the rumors about him and Blake be true?”

“The favoritism seemed obvious.”

Unwittingly, Kevin’s actions had indeed shown a preference for Blake, something he had not fully realized. His headache worsened as he thought about last night’s incident, which was still clear in his mind.

“Come to my office,” Kevin ordered Blake, who followed him angrily. She grabbed her work badge before entering. In Kevin’s soundproof office, he inquired, “Explain yourself.”

His tone was almost routine, as he was accustomed to Blake’s frequent troubles. Given her conduct, he even began to doubt the authenticity of her degree from Ventropolis University.

Blake scoffed, turning away, “I don’t owe you an explanation. I don’t like her, that’s all. And I don’t need your help with the compensation. You’re nothing to me.”

At that moment, Madelyn made a rare appearance. Her elegance and presence caused a stir in the office. One of the staff asked, “M-Mrs. Jardin, why are you here?”

Madelyn entered calmly and said, ” Don’t mind me.”

She approached and overheard the heated exchange inside Kevin’s office.

“I don’t want this job,” Blake said, tossing a wallet at Kevin. “Keep your filthy money. I don’t want any part of it!

Blake stormed out of Kevin’s office with tears in her eyes, passing Madelyn without a glance. Madelyn stepped into Kevin’s office, a space she had never entered.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
