The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1049

“My goodness! Blake is really something! When did she become so popular with everyone?” one of the colleagues exclaimed.

Kevin remained unflinching but set down his glass with an inexplicably strange expression. Everyone watched as Blake staggered over, and Kevin was the only one who did not turn back. They were eager to see what astonishing things she would do next. However, what came next was not expected.

Blake held the beer and walked up behind Kevin. Then, she leaned on his back and rested one hand on his shoulder. She said, “Hey! Who’s this? Why haven’t I seen you before? What’s your name? Which department you’re in? Where do you live? Are you in a relationship? How old are you this year? Who’s in your family? Tell me everything.”

Everyone was shocked. “Blake, are you crazy?”

Kevin cast a chilling, intimidating gaze at Edison standing nearby and asked, ” How much did you let her drink?”

Edison said, “She was fine after just one can earlier, but now she’s had three. Besides, the alcohol content is low. I didn’t expect her to get drunk so easily. I’m sorry, Mr. Harrison. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have let her drink so much. I’ll take her home now.”

“Go home? I don’t want to go home! I haven’t even started enjoying myself yet!” Blake said loudly. She grinned at Kevin and added, “Handsome, let me sit down and have a few more drinks with you.”

Kevin reached around and pulled Blake’s waist, lifting her. “Claim the cost of this meal from the Finance Department tomorrow according to the procedures. Just say it was my suggestion.”

After Kevin instructed them, he effortlessly lifted the embarrassed Blake as if she were a sack, carrying her away with one hand.

Then, Kevin shoved her into the passenger seat. At this time, several female colleagues said with regret, “If I had known, I would have gotten drunk too. Maybe Mr. Harrison also has taken me home.”

Kevin fastened the seatbelt for Blake. She slumped into the seat with her eyes closed and grabbed Kevin’s tie, using it to wipe her mouth. Kevin’s face instantly darkened. Looking at the now -drunk person, he said nothing. He walked around the front of the car, sat in the driver’s seat, fastened his seatbelt, and asked coldly, “Where do you live?”

Blake waved her hand. “I’m not going home. No one’s at home anyway. I’ll go to your place.”

Kevin looked at Blake with a cold gaze. After a moment of hesitation, he made his decision and changed the destination. Ten minutes later, he brought the drunken Blake back to his office. Although it was crude, at least she was not left on the street.

When Kevin laid Blake on the couch, he felt a powerful force pulling him, causing him to lose his balance and fell. During the close encounter, Blake bit her upper lip and felt a sharp pain as if she was bleeding.

At that moment, Blake forced herself awake from her alcohol-induced stupor and opened her eyes to see a face close to hers. Through her blurred vision, she saw a face close to hers, its eyes showing brief surprise before returning to a calm expression.

Blake even stuck out her tongue and licked her lip, briefly clearing her mind. Kevin started to get up, but Blake, who was stuck on the sofa, reached out and grabbed his tie. She said, “Do you think you can just run away after kissing me? I want a kiss in return.”

Blake pulled Kevin close and kissed him. He was surprised by her strength and could not push her off. During their kiss, Kevin looked at the surveillance camera on the wall, feeling sad.

Seven minutes after the clock struck midnight, Blake was out of breath and completely exhausted. She fell asleep as soon as Kevin broke free.

The next day, Janice, the first to arrive at the office, saw Blake sleeping on the couch and woke her up. “Blake, did you not go home last night? Why are you sleeping here?”

Blake woke up with a splitting headache. When she sat up, her mind was a complete blank.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
