The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1041

Even if they saw each other at the company, Blake could still keep her calm. At that moment, a colleague from the Editorial Department brought Blake a work badge and asked, “Blake, what’s your relationship with Xander Gale? He insisted on working with you for the book signing. I’m jealous! could you get a complete set of books for me?”

Blake happily put on the work badge and flicked her hair smugly before saying, “Sure, it’s no big deal.”

Then came another request, “One more thing. I’m embarrassed to ask, but could you do me this favor?”

Blake agreed, “Do tell.”

The editorial colleague said, “I found Xander’s contact and texted him, but he hasn’t responded.”

Blake replied, “I’ll mention it to him, but I can’t promise anything.”

“It’s okay, it’ll work if you tell him. I think he treats you differently. Also, the car’s here. You should hurry. Xander is waiting for you,” said the editorial colleague.

The book signing event was at half past nine, so there was still half an hour. Many people at the office had high hopes for Blake and wanted her to get Liam’s autographed books for them. It made her feel like she had hooked up with a rich guy.

At the Ventropolis Library, Blake and Liam entered through the employee entrance to avoid the crowd. When they had reached the second floor, Blake saw the crowd outside. She exclaimed, ” Liam, you’re almost as popular as any top-tier celebrity. If they saw your real face, the fans would’ve gone crazy.”

At the same time, the editor who was with Liam reminded him, “You just need to sign autographs and no pictures.”

Blake looked behind her and saw that Liam was not listening to her. Instead, he was still chatting with the editor, Olivia Blue. Olivia and Liam were very close partners.

Olivia looked sharp in her suit. She turned to Blake and requested, “Ms. Dion, the event will start in two minutes. During this period, could you help monitor the fans? I have some arrangements to make. We also might need to meet with some guests.”

Blake nodded and replied, “No worries, you can count on me.”

Throughout the signing, guards were standing on both sides, and they were there to keep Liam safe. No one knew how crazily the fans would react.

Blake gave Liam a water bottle during the signing and asked, “Are you nervous?”

Liam replied, “With you around, I’m not nervous at all.”

Blake was confused and thought, ‘Why did he say it so charmingly? He sounded like a character from his novels.’

The event went on smoothly and many fans showed up. Blake managed to prevent fans from taking pictures with Liam. It was already half past four in the evening when the event ended.

Blake was exhausted from the event and dozed off. After Liam finished signing the last book, he kept the pen and massaged his wrists. He then shielded her from the light with a book.

Olivia had just hung up her call and walked in. Just as she was about to talk, Liam hushed her before walking out.

In the corridor, Liam glanced at Blake and smiled. He turned around and asked, “Is something the matter?”

Olivia answered, “Good news! A big shot wants to meet you, which could greatly benefit your career.”

However, Liam refused, “No, I don’t want to go.”

Olivia insisted, “You can’t. You have to go. She’s the wife of Jardin Corporation’s CEO. Don’t worry, it’s just a meal and nothing else.”

Liam argued, “Olivia, you should know. I don’t like such events.”

Olivia continued, “But she’s already waiting for you. If you don’t go, there’ll be severe consequences. Jardin Corporation is not someone our company can mess with. I know that the new website that Jardin Corporation established did a lot to recruit you. It has messed up your life, but could you do this for me? Just think of it as repaying me for being your editor.”

Liam apologized, “I’m sorry.”

Blake overheard their conversation, and intervened, “You should go. Madelyn’s a friend who’s helped my family in tough times. Plus, I know her well, and she’s stunning. It’s a win for you to go. Just be careful around her husband. Mr. Jardin is quite possessive. Even a look at Madelyn might anger him. But don’t worry. I’ll protect you!”

Olivia was taken aback. She asked, “You know Mr. Jardin’s wife? Why are you still an assistant with such connections?”

Blake, struck by the realization, exclaimed, “Right! Why am I still an assistant?”

Liam smiled and said, “If you want me to go, I’ll go.”

Olivia immediately smiled and said. ” Sure, I’ll arrange for your ride immediately. The meeting will be at The Deli.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
