The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1026

Blake’s worries about her job had vanished. She realized that working elsewhere could be equally satisfying, and the relentless stress at Jardin Corporation was simply not worth it.

In the past, Blake spent her workdays casually scrolling through her phone, but Cecilia’s return had changed everything, Infusing her work life with unending tension.

Blake felt misled by Kevin’s empty promises of an important role alongside Cecilia. For days, Kevin had left Blake in suspense, never responding to her messages. And now, having exploited her, he had even blocked her number.

At her desk, Blake maintained a cheerful facade, her eyes on her phone screen. Her colleagues, not fully understanding her situation, voiced their envy tinged with sarcasm.

“Blake, you have it easy here. Aside from tolerating Ms. Stamford, you hardly have to lift a finger.

“Yeah, Blake, are you actually considering quitting? Jardin Corporation is a goldmine. You won’t find another company like this.”

“Of course she’s not worried. Even if she ends up jobless, the Harper family will bail her out. Must be nice having rich relatives to fall back on.”

Blake, sensing the underlying sarcasm, did not let it ruffle her. She leaned back, a snack in hand, watching the clock slowly tick toward the end of her workday.

Suddenly, a colleague approached with a probing question, “Hey, Blake, how did you really land this job? You didn’t pull strings, did you? I heard even secretaries need serious credentials these days.”

Blake glanced at her watch, already packing up. She retorted lightly, “Sounds like someone’s jealous.”

The colleague, taken aback, asked, “What’s that supposed to mean?”

As Blake unplugged her phone charger and slung her bag over her shoulder, she flashed a playful yet sarcastic smile. “It means you’ve got too much time on your hands, asking all these questions!”

At that moment, Kevin entered the office, his presence like cold draft. He asked coldly, “Are you all

done with work?”

The group around Blake quickly dispersed.

Susan

wed Kevin in, throwing a triumphant glance at Blake, who paid her no mind.

As the final seconds of the workday ticked away, Blake made a swift exit, calling out, “Time to clock out!”

+15 BONUS e. Susan watched Kevin settle at his desk, buried in quarterly reports. He asked without looking un Anything else?

Susan hesitantly handed him a file, “Mr. Harrison, this is Blake’s employee file. I’ve already submitted your approval for her resignation to HR. All her tasks are completed, so she can leave anytime. What should we do with this file?”

Kevin, visibly annoyed, snapped, “Do I need to tell you how to handle these things? Just get on with it!”

Susan quickly left after being stung by the reprimand

“Get me a cup of coffee!” Kevin barked without looking up.

“Right away, Mr. Harrison.”

After Susan brought him his coffee and left, she shredded Blake’s file

For Blake, leaving Jardin Corporation was more of a relief than anything. She had only taken the job to avoid burdening Grace, with whom she had lived for years

Now, Blake was on her way to a different kind of appointment. Her mother had set her up on a blind date at a local diner. It was her first time going on a blind date in such a casual setting, and the diner’s peak- hour bustle made it challenging to spot her date.

Blake began to wonder if she had been stood up after several unanswered calls. Her gaze drifted to a handsome man near the entrance.

“He’s quite good–looking.” Blake murmured to herself, a flicker of curiosity in her eyes.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
