The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1023

Kal questioned, “Did you call me here to keep her safe?”

Zach replied tersely, “Keep Yvonne’s survival a secret from Madelyn. I fear Madelyn might impulsively try  to go after Ethan.”

Kal, setting down the tablet, scoffed, “Afraid of Yvonne now? Worried shell harm Madelyn?”

Kal pressed on before Zach could counter. “A wounded woman is dangerous, Zach. This is your mes  Madelyn shouldn’t be dragged into it. And remember, Cecilia is a far greater threat than Yvonne. You can’t  control Cecilia like you did Yvonne. She’s the real danger here.”

In Kal’s mind, Cecilia’s ambitions were alarmingly formidable, posing a severe risk to a vulnerable Zach.

Kai was still haunted by the memory of Alicia’s sacrifice for Madelyn, He had made an unbreakable vow

to protect Madelyn at all costs, and it was a promise he was determined to fulfill.

After Zach departed for work, Kal went to check on Madelyn in her room. Once Margaret had brought her water and medicine, leaving them alone, Madelyn queried, “What did Zach tell you?”

“He asked me to look after you,” Kai answered, his voice steady.

Madelyn, her eyes serious, reminded him, “Don’t forget your promise to me.”

Kai hesitated but eventually divulged, “The figure you saw last night was Yvonne. She’s alive.”

Madelyn, shocked, sat up. “Yvonne’s alive? Then what about Ethan?”

Kai observed the deep concern in Madelyn’s eyes, reminiscent of Alicia’s worry for Erick in the past. He silently prayed that Madelyn would not suffer Alicia’s fate, losing her heart to a man and dying of  heartache.

In Kai’s opinion, Zach was not the man Madelyn should trust her life with. If possible, he would rather have her with Ethan than Zach.

Softly, Kai advised, “Ethan’s remains weren’t found. He might be alive. But keep this from Yvonne. Her fixation on Zach could make her target you.

“Zach wants this hidden from you. If trouble arises, let Zach handle it. Don’t get involved, especially if you’re planning to leave. Focus on yourself, not on the Young family or the Amold family. Think about what matters to you most.”

With those words, Kai excused himself to rest in the adjacent guest room.

delyn thought to herself, ‘If Yvonne survived, then Ethan… He must be alive. No news might be good.

As Madelyn closed her eyes, Yvonne’s scarred face haunted her. She imagined the unbearable pain of being burned, the torment Yvonne must have suffered.

Meanwhile, at the Young residence, amidst the medical team’s hustle, Zach came uninvited. Frida, anticipating Zach’s visit, was resolute.

Frida thought, “Meeting Zach now would only make Yvonne more upset. Her scarred face has already  hurt her a lot.

“Tell him to leave. He’s not welcome here,” Frida instructed firmly.

The servant hesitated. “Ms. Young, he’s already here.”

Frida, firm in her decision, commanded, “Secure this floor. No one gets in.”

Yvonne feared people seeing her like this.” Frida thought to herself.

Frida came downstairs and stood at the bottom of the staircase. She saw a group of bodyguards and

Zach in the living room. She demanded, “Leave! You’re not welcome here, you heartless bastard!”

Zach, his demeanor cold, signaled his men, who began destroying the living room’s decor.

Frida, outraged, yelled, “Stop! What are you thinking? You’ll regret this!”

Zach, smoking a cigarette, looked more like a gang leader than a businessman. “Why would I regret it? 1 was a thug before I founded Jardin Corporation. You overestimate me, Ms. Young.”

He exhaled the smoke and added ominously, “I’m here for my wife. Cross me again, and luck won’t be on your side. Remember, you have a whole life ahead of you to live. Don’t risk it.“

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
