The Legacy of the Alpha King: Hiding his Secret Twins Chapter 97 by Ebony Woods

Reuben POV

We got straight to work, it didn’t matter that it was nighttime, we had no time to lose. Nate and I haven’t stopped, we’ve been working with my IT section to hack all of the known

businesses that Father is connected to. Also finding ones that he holds some affiliation with. There are a lot, he’s been very busy for someone that was meant to be in peaceful retirement.

Like I’ve said before my men are the best and the chance to get revenge on their previous alpha only seemed to spur them on even more.

We kept the team small, I didn’t want pack members finding out what we were doing and also I didn’t want to cause panic.

We’ve been freezing money online and withholding company data, by the time the stock exchange opens in the morning, the companies will be useless, unable to trade and share prices will fall as a result. I need to hit him where it hurts….

Money and power. That’s all he cares about, and that is where I will hurt him.

“Alpha, we can identify all business links except for one. It seems he has gone to great lengths to protect someone.” The head of my IT section reports back to both me and Nate. He was one of world’s best hackers, I often asked him to hack intelligence centres to ensure werewolf data remained a secret. Helping to keep our community out of the human government line of fire and also out of the newspapers.

You’d be surprised at how stupid some werewolves can be, shifting on human land and near cctv cameras.

I had contacts in the government, local police and business human world, ones I had to give a lot of my business to in order to keep quiet. Another reason I was so in awe of Evelyn, she managed to build a network of human suppliers into her pack without them finding out exactly what they were. But, whether she knows it or not, I do have

information on those companies, just in case they ever decided to blackmail her. She’ll never know it but my men and I have gone to great lengths to keep her and the kids safe from exposure.

“Then dig deeper.” I barely gaze up from the documents I continue to skim read through.

“We can’t there is nothing. It’s like they have no digital footprint.” He responds just as frustrated at how well this person is hidden. For him to not be unable to find them made no sense whatsoever. Surely in order to have bank accounts left in your name you’d need ID to open the accounts… anything. So to have no record was really odd.

“He’s hiding someone but leaving stocks to that person should anything happen to him. However, Alpha…” His change in tone has piqued my interest and I look up at him with curiosity at what he is going to reveal, seeing a piece of paper in his hands.

“You’re not going to like this…” He seems hesitant on how I may respond, stepping back slightly from my increased alpha aura. He’s hesitation in sharing the information only increasing my dark aura.

“What is it?” I try to keep my aura under control, the atmosphere in the room had grown more and more suffocating throughout the night. A thunderstorm of pressure ready to explode at any moment.

“We have found connections with shipping firms and on the payroll is….”

This is no surprise to me, I knew Father had links to the shipping industry and the following only confirms my suspicions all along. He lays the piece of paper on the table in front of me, a growl at her appearance involuntarily escaping Nate’s chest.

Vicky!

Damn, so they had been conspiring together, but for how long and what for? “Alpha?” My Head IT man pushes me for a response as my eyes scowl at the picture before me.

“I need you to find details on all the bank accounts, all the businesses that I and the Red Stone pack own…anything that has my name on it…’

“Alpha?” Nate looks at me perplexed, wondering where I was going with this command.

“Just fucking do it.” I order at him and his neck submits, leaving to follow his new orders. “What are you thinking?” Nate questions, picking up the picture of Vicky and analysing it closely. It was a front facing photo, something that was most likely used as ID to open accounts in her name.

That’s how she’s been able to bank roll her attacks, Father has been paying for it. Fuck! The level of betrayal makes me want to set fire to the office, with myself inside it. But I was so angry that I don’t think the flames of a fire would even burn at me. I felt like the devil himself, hot with hatred and anger for the ex and the Father.

“I need to put a plan in place, to ensure if anything happens to me, that the pack, the alliance and all the businesses go to Evelyn…until Rex is old enough.”

“Reuben…” Nate gasps not only at the idea of something happening to me but that I would put such a burden on Evelyn. She’s strong enough to handle it, she’s shown that already.

She’d have Noah by her side as well as Pierce and Milo and Candice, she’d be supported enough to get through it.

“It’s that or Father and Vicky. I trust her with my life, she’d look after the Red Stone pack…”

It is a little later on and I have signed many legal documents which would transfer ownership of the pack and alliance, and any businesses to Evelyn if I should die.

At least this way I am helping her and the children, and preventing my Father or Vicky from getting their fingers on the power I hold.

They would run the alliance drunk on power and destroy any pack that refused to join them. Going for the ones that joined the Silver Moon alliance first, going after Evelyn. If Evelyn could hold her ground legally and in defend her grounds, then they wouldn’t have a foot to stand on.

I didn’t even notice Michelle walking in with a tray of drinks in her hands until she places them abruptly on the table, on top of the paper work, completely ruining my train of thought.

“Not now Michelle.” I growl at her.

“Yes now… It’s 4am in the morning. You haven’t stopped, haven’t drunk anything or had any food. You need to take a break.” Her aggressive tone surprises me and it takes me out of the obsessive mind set I had entered.

4am? Goddess, how did that happen. I look up to find my once tidy office in a complete disarray. It has turned in to some kind of police investigation room. Maps spread across the walls with pins marking locations, red string

connecting the pins to identify possible links and faces hanging from the walls. Identities and their links to each other known. We’ve really delved deep into Father’s underworld within the human world. Found out a lot of his secrets, potential information he might be using as blackmail against human business owners and even pack alphas of the Red Stone alliance.

Finding all his dirty secrets, except for this one person! We remain completely in the dark as to who this person is and why Father should go to great lengths to hide this person.

I look to Michelle who is standing her ground against me, hands crossed over her chest daring me to refuse food and drink. She was right, the time had run away from us and I didn’t realise what time it was. I didn’t even know what time Evelyn left…..

Wait..

“Evelyn? Do we know if the Alpha got back to the Silver Moon Pack?” I turn to Nate, surely he would have heard.

“I’ve not heard anything to suggest otherwise.” Nate looks at me with a frown.

“She was angry at me I know but surely she would have messaged, or at least Noah messaged Nate to confirm they made it back safely…” they had followed me directly here from the Blue Moon pack. Cassandra and Noah walking away from their own marking ceremony to support Evelyn, who I know would have come here alone, Shit she was fucking stubborn.

“Let me call Noah now…” Nate stands up noticing the worry in my face, placing his mobile phone to his ear seemingly dialling Noah’s number.

Sure, she was pissed at me but nothing compared to in the past, and she would understand that what I did was for her own safety. For hers and the kids.

“Nothing Alpha, it’s not even ringing.” Nate looks at me with a shared worry on his face, a look I don’t like.

A sensation of dread hits my chest, the feeling moving down into my gut and I just have this sense that something has happened. My wolf jumps forward, we were too far away to sense hers of course but even he was urging me to try and call her. Not liking the worry gripping at my throat.

“Evelyn?…” I start to leave a message as her phone doesn’t even ring, it goes straight to voicemail.

“I know you are pissed at me but call me when you get this…it’s urgent.”

As time passedmore guests arrived to give their congratulations. The entire venue was filled with people. A famous entertainer was also putting on a performance on the main stage. Below, the guests were talking and laughing over some wine. “Dahlia, this is a nice place. You would be the owner in the future, right?” Florence glanced around, thrilled. “Mom, I’m just partners with the Harmon family. I’m merely a secondary stakeholder even if we established a company together,” Dahlia explained. “That’s good enough. Once we get on the same boat with the Harmon family, we won’t have to worry in the future!” Florence was delighted. “Sis! Your career is booming right now. You must have made a lot of money, right? When are you getting me a nice car?” James smiled flatteringly beside her. “I give you quite a lot of pocket money every month. Is it not enough?” Dahlia asked unhappily. She did not like giving handouts, even to her own brother. “It used to be enough. But I’ve invested all my savings into Nolan Pharmaceuticals, so now I’m broke,” James said exasperatedly. “Then you just sit and wait for the dividends,” Dahlia said dismissively. As she turned around, she caught sight of Dustin and Natasha out of the corner of her eye. “You invited Dustin here? What a downer!” James followed her line of view and frowned. “I didn’t,” Dahlia denied flatly. “He came without any invitationThat’s so shameless!” James grimaced. Then hist gaze landed on Natasha, and he immediately perked up. “Hey, who’s that beauty next to him? She’s stunning!” “What beauty? She’s vixen!” Florence continued rather calmly, “She was the one causing trouble at the Jackson Groupand I nearly slapped her!” “It was her?” James‘ tone turned cold, and he spat, “Shit! Dustin is so heartless. How dare he bring this bitch to such an important occasion today? He’s such an eyesore!” “LookDahlia, he’s finally revealed his true colors. It’s a shame. You were so nice to him, yet he’s so ungrateful, and even tried to ruin this occasion. I have to teach him a lesson today!” As she spoke, Florence got ready to confront him “Mom! Today is the opening ceremony, don’t cause any trouble!” Dahlia quickly grabbed her mother. She knew once her mother started making a scene, it would not end well. “Hmph! I’ll let him get away with it this time!” Although Florence was very upset, she tried to calm herself down. No matter what, she couldn’t embarrass her own daughter. “Dahlia, you’re here?” Chris brought Jeff and walked over with a smile. “Here, I want to introduce you to someone.” “This is Mr. Anderson’s son, Jeff!” Chris stretched out his hand as if he was presenting something valuable. “So, you’re Jeff Anderson? It’s a great pleasure to meet you!” James immediately tried. to curry favor with him. This was Swinton’s most distinguished elite, and he had at much more respected status than him. “I didn’t expect you to come, Mr. Anderson! The Nicholson family is honored!” Florence was smiling broadly. Needless to say, Mr. Anderson’s son had to be some big shot. “Nice to meet you, Jeff.” Dahlia smiled and greeted him warmly. “You must be Ms. Nicholson. It seems the rumors are true, you’re really stunning!” Although he had never met Dahlia, he had heard of her. She was one of the Four Beauties in Swinton and a rising star.
