Oops! I Married A CEO By Mistake Chapter 56

56- Coffee

“Let’s have coffee together.” She announced when she entered his office. The same office she was sharing with him.

Today again she was carrying two cups of coffee which she got made by the hotel staff. But right after she entered, she stopped herself in time. Not because Hunter was not there on his desk but an old man of around sixty five to seventy years of age, was sitting there engrossed in some file with a laptop open in front.

The man noticed her and smiled mischievously. He stood up from his seat, “You must be Abigail!” A bit hesitantly, she looked back at the closed door then very slowly moved forward to place the coffee cups in her hands, on the desk. She didn’t know why her palms were sweating profusely. The man had the cutest smile on his wrinkled face. His white hair was done back with style. His height must be 6’1” with a straight back. He was wearing a Herringbone pattern shirt with jeans.

Even at this age, he managed very well to look all chic and classy, with blue-colored thick and bold rimmed glasses. He came forward and extended his hand for a handshake. She gazed down at his outstretched hand and reluctantly held it, giving him a puzzled look. “I am Aiden Wyatt, Hunter’s grandpa.” “Nice meeting you, Mr. Wyatt.” She gave him a formal smile. He was still holding her hand and looking at her intently. His face reminded her of Rafael. “You must have been a killer when you were young.” She remarked returning his gaze.

“Actually, you still are.” She said sincerely. “By the way are you sure It was not a hasty decision to marry Hunter? Because almost every male in his family seems a real knockout!” listening to that he chuckled squeezing her hand. “And you are exquisite, sweetheart. Almost angelic!” she raised her brows taken aback by this praise.

“How do you know that I am any of it?” she raised a challenging eyebrow. “These coffee cups are telling me. By the way, you are warm and sunny too.” He said mischievously. Abigail laughed, “And you are like Rafael, A flatterer!” “By the way what about coffee cups?” she felt like a fool as if she was missing something. Just then Hunter entered and his face lit up when he saw her. Aiden Wyatt frowned a little but did not comment.

“Ah, I see. You two have already met.” He commented.

“Yes, we have. By the way, Abigail brought you coffee.” Abigail didn’t know why the old man was beaming so much. And why Hunter was avoiding his gaze altogether. Hunter came up and placed a kiss on her forehead.

“I came running to introduce you two.” He muttered, and Abigail understood. He might think that she would feel offended because it was again a surprise to find him in his office.

“They came unannounced so it was a surprise for me too.” Poor him trying to explain her. She wanted to stop him but could not because for some odd reason Aiden Wyatt seemed amused. Holding her arm, Aiden Wyatt guided her to her table and asked her politely to sit. “So my dear when are you coming to meet my Caroline?”

“Caroline?”

“Yes. Caroline, my wife.” “Oh. Whenever you would be ready. I would love to meet her.” she gave him her signature smile.

“You have got a dimple just like her.” He touched her dimple with affection. Turning to Hunter he remarked, “How you even managed to find her and make her agree to marry you?” then he smiled at her warmly. “Have dinner with us, Abigail. Tonight!” then added after a wink, “Accompanied with your fiancé… Of course.” ***

“I don’t feel good about this. I was dying to meet her.” She said with a super sad face. “But your health is important sweetheart.” He nuzzled his nose in her neck. “She should feel welcome in our family. First, we arrive here unannounced and now you canceled the dinner.” She was all riled up.

“Because I and Hunter both are concerned about your health Carol!” he kept teasing her neck. “Fuck with my neck and health.” The moment she said it Aiden Wyatt’s shoulders started shaking with mirth. But Caroline Wyatt was hell serious and was giving him a ‘don’t mess with me’ look

“Sweetheart! Did I tell you today that I love you?” he removed a stray hair from her forehead and tucked it behind her ear. Caroline despite being mad at him could not stop herself to smile at that. “Yes, you did. And I love you too.” She kissed his lips and leaned her head on his chest.

“Should I ask the hotel staff to arrange our dinner on the balcony? Perhaps candlelight?” when Caroline nodded her head he kissed it and tried to sniff her hair.

Later when their dinner arrived, he had to help Caroline because of her arthritis to make her

sit comfortably in her chair. Then he sat there and as usual and started to fill her plate first, with food. After filling his plate he gave the first bite to his wife. It was all a part of their routine and she seemed accustomed to it. She looked at him while chewing her food. Spending around forty-six to forty-seven years of marriage with that man was a hell of a roller coaster ride and she never regretted a single moment of it.

After dinner she was sipping her fruit cocktail with almost no alcohol, looking outside where their balcony was facing the garden. Lightning was perfect with slow music playing around. Young couples were busy partying, dancing, and kissing. While enjoying the view she started frowning a little. “That man over there with that girl, he

resembles a lot like Hunter?” Aiden Wyatt stood a little to get a clear view then his face broke into a tender smile. “This is our Hunter, honey.” “Really? I don’t think so love. This man is laughing a lot.” Her brows furrowed a little. “Do you think they are putting up a pretense?” “I don’t think so. Though according to my investigators and their reports… it is a sure short contract marriage. But I don’t know why they are not able to provide a copy of their signed contract. And to top it all he also gave her a furniture showroom. But it’s still in his name. He has stopped paying her for her office work.” Caroline gasped at that, “And why would he do that?” “That’s what I don’t understand. He was supposed to pay her. There is one more thing Carol!”

“And what’s that?”

“She has good taste in dressing but she was not wearing a designer dress. Even her purse or bag whatever it was, also did not have any brand tag.” “Brand? Are you serious? Lots of people don’t do it, Aiden, even if they have got money.” But Aiden just shook his head, “No Carol. It’s something else. Something I am not able to put my finger on. I don’t know how to tell you this. But there is something very fishy.” “Come on. You are worried for nothing. Hunter has taken his looks from his father but he has taken his stubbornness from you.”

“Now what is that supposed to mean?” “Honey, What I mean is you were also like that. Cold, calculated, callous…. Umm … not very emotional, sort of detached.” “Sweetheart! My love! That was before I met you. Before I fell in love with you.” Caroline smiled at that and turned her face towards the garden.

She was not able to see the girl clearly but Hunter seemed happy… genuinely happy. “Do you want to hear one more thing?” Aiden’s voice sliced through the air. She just nodded her head and took her glass near her mouth to take a sip but later choked on it when Aiden told in a very amused voice “Hunter drinks coffee with her.”
