Unconsciously, Han Muzi’s initial shock had already faded away. Ye Moxuan scrapped the essence on her chin with his finger and wiped it on her nose tip. “What is this?”
Fine. I didn’t wash my face properly. Her face blushed as she ignored Ye Moxuan’s words and diverted her eyes away. It then landed in the direction of the chaotic mess.
However, before she could have a clear look at it, Ye Moxuan stretched his huge hand out to block her vision. “Stop looking at it. I’ll bring you upstairs for you to rest for a while.”
After that, he carried her up and started walking up the stairs without asking for her permission. The more scared of it she was, the more curious she became, so when they walked past the dining table, she couldn’t help but glance over. Nevertheless, Ye Moxuan tilted her head away, as though he had predicted what she would do. “What’s there to look at? Don’t look at it if you’re scared!”
Later on, Ye Moxuan brought her back to her room and placed her on the soft bed. “Stay here. I’ll call you after I’m done with the mess downstairs.” He left right after.
As soon as he was gone, Han Muzi blinked and lay down on the comfortable bed while hugging the blanket beside her.
During this period of time, Ye Moxuan did so much for her.
However… who would do such a prank on her?
According to the events that happened lately—including the first day when she was delivered a dead rabbit, and now, the words ‘Drop dead’ with the dead rat in the meal box—it seemed to her like they were the works of the same person. However, that person, who pretended to be a delivery man, suddenly killed himself at the end. On the surface, it looked like suicide, but whether it really was a suicide case was still a mystery.
Other than that, there were also those men who followed her for two days. When she was hiding away from them, she could hear their conversation, and it sounded like they weren’t careful with their actions. Strangely, at the end, the men suddenly went back, as if there was someone manipulating them to do so. But who is behind all these? Is that person helping the people who want to harm me? Who have I offended this time..?
Her mind became a mess as she couldn’t comprehend the situation that happened downstairs. Finally, she slowly dozed off while lying on her bed.
As soon as she woke up, she could smell the fragrant scent of rice.
Han Muzi opened her eyes, and immediately, she saw Ye Moxuan sitting by the window.
“You’re awake?” Ye Moxuan heard a noise and came over to her. “The chef has prepared your meal. Come eat some.”
Before she could react, Ye Moxuan carried her up again and went down the stairs.
Han Muzi was silent at first, then she said, “You don’t need to carry me everywhere. I have legs of my own.”
“But can you walk steadily?” Ye Moxuan shut her mouth with just a sentence, and she was rendered speechless. When they arrived downstairs, the dining table was already filled with an abundance of food. Even though it was a sumptuous meal, most of the dishes were light and nourishing, which was perfect for her sickness.
Han Muzi was astonished by the chef’s attention to detail, and at the same time, she was also touched. After all, all of these were ordered by Ye Moxuan.
Other than that, the mess on the floor was also tidied up. It seemed as though that shocking event never happened.
“Where’s the chef?” Han Muzi looked around and realized that there wasn’t anybody around but the two of them.
“The chef went back.” Ye Moxuan served her a bowl of soup and urged her to drink it.
There were too many dishes on the table. Despite Han Muzi’s extreme hunger, she had lost her appetite after experiencing such a shock, so she didn’t eat much. However, Ye Moxuan was patient in urging her to eat more, so much so that she felt like she was being treated like a child.
At last, her face darkened. “Don’t keep telling me to eat. I really can’t eat more of this. If you’re already full, then you should go back. I want to be alone for today.”
Ye Moxuan put down the chopsticks in his hand and pursed his lips. “Aren’t you afraid of being alone at home?”
“As long as I don’t open the door, no one will be able to break in, right? And…” Han Muzi lifted her head to glance at him. “Didn’t you install a security camera at the entrance? If anything happens to me, you will know.”
Listening to her, Ye Moxuan frowned and stared at her with discontent. “Do you still think I’ve installed a security camera at your entrance?”
Han Muzi raised her head and smiled gently. “Didn’t you, though? Do you want to install another one inside my house? Or should I go to your place to look for footage to prove your innocence?” After she was done, she put down her chopsticks. “Alright. I know you’re not willing to admit because you’re afraid that I will reprimand you. But after what happened in these two days, I can understand your actions. So I won’t blame you for installing the security camera,” she whispered.
Ye Moxuan was surprised that she wasn’t actually blaming him. He squinted his eyes to give her a thorough look and tried to find any trace of emotions on her face.
“Thank you for what you did for me today. You’ve done so much.” Ye Moxuan’s jaw immediately dropped in awe as he had never expected her to thank him. Suddenly, he felt that everything he had done in the past few days was all worth it for this one sentence.
Finally, Han Muzi brought Ye Moxuan to the entrance, but she couldn’t hold back her words anymore. “Actually, you don’t need to keep an eye on me like this all the time. It’s not worth it.” These words came straight from her heart.
However, Ye Moxuan stopped his steps after hearing her and gave her a glance. “You are the only woman in my life. Who should I keep an eye on except for you?”
Han Muzi remained silent.
“Finish your meal and have a rest after. Call me if anything happens.” Ye Moxuan reached for the door himself and closed the security door for her.
Bang! The two of them were now separated by the security door as Han Muzi stood stationary in a daze. She recalled what Ye Moxuan just said. I’m the only woman in his life… Is it true or… he just simply said it? But from his recent actions, it doesn’t seem like it’s a lie. Then what about him and Xueyou back then? At that time, I chose to believe him, but at the end, when I left, he never gave me an explanation.
Han Muzi leaned on the door and slowly closed her eyes.
After a while, she came around and took out her phone to call Yan. “Yan, are you done with your work?”
“Ah, Muzi? I got off work just now. I forgot to tell you that I’m bringing Little Bean to the Han residence with me tonight… Hehe, I thought about what I told you last night, so I felt it was better for me to stay away for the time being and let you deal with your relationship problems first.”
