Slightly confused, Shen Qi lowered the car window.
“What? Is this the place?”
She stared at the main entrance of the hospital. For some reason, she thought this place seemed familiar. I think I’ve been here before.
“We are here, Second Young Lady. Please wait for a while. I’ll head in to inform Young Master Ye and ask him to come out.”
“Alright, thank you.”
Shen Qi nodded without much thought.
Xiao Su turned to leave, and he seemed to be in a rush. Shen Qi stayed in the car while staring at the entrance of the hospital. The longer she stared at it, the more familiar it looked. Then, something clicked in the back of her mind. She suddenly remembered… Isn’t this the hospital that Han Xueyou was admitted to after she attempted suicide? How can I not recognize the place just now? What is wrong with my brain? Han Xueyou is admitted to this hospital, and Xiao Su has just led me here, claiming that he’s here to look for Ye Moxuan. Doesn’t that mean…? Ye Moxuan mentioned that he had something urgent to attend to. Is he here to see Han Xueyou?
Shen Qi felt as if she plunged into an icy-cold lake when she had this thought in her mind. I wanted to get a divorce from him, but who would have thought that… he would abandon me for Han Xueyou? Shen Qi pursed her lips and looked far away outside the window. Then, she blurted, “Mr. Nan, wait for me here. I’ll go take a quick look.”
Mr. Nan noticed the sudden change of her emotions, but he nodded nonetheless. “Yes, Miss.”
Shen Qi opened the car door and got out of the car. Then, she walked toward Han Xueyou’s room based on her memory.
She felt her heart beating faster with every step she took.
She was not sure what or why she was doing this. Why am I so nervous despite deciding to do this?
Finally, Shen Qi arrived in front of Han Xueyou’s room.
Sure enough, the scene inside the ward unfolded in her sight.
Ye Moxuan was indeed in the room, whereas Han Xueyou was clinging onto his arm while saying something, her eyes brimming with tears.
Xiao Su, who was there to fetch Ye Moxuan for Shen Qi, was standing beside, looking helpless and extremely annoyed. Ye Moxuan had his back facing him, so he was oblivious to Xiao Su’s expression.
He really is here to see her.
The sparkle in Shen Qi’s eyes dulled gradually and it was replaced with a sense of darkness. Soon, the sparkle was completely gone from her eyes.
Han Xueyou said something before suddenly throwing herself into Ye Moxuan’s arms.
Shen Qi couldn’t take it anymore when she saw that. She turned around and leaned against the stone-cold wall.
Forget it. There’s nothing to see anymore.
Why do I have to torture myself like this? I’ve already decided to divorce him, which means that I have no say over whomever he wants to be with.
Shen Qi shut her eyes slowly when she thought of that.
After a very long time, Shen Qi opened her eyes again, but her eyes were completely abyssal.
She took a step forward and started her journey back where she came from.
After waiting for her for some time, Mr. Nan started worrying. He took his phone out and called Han Qing to reiterate what happened before he ended the call.
After waiting for a while longer, Mr. Nan was so worried he was about to get out of the car to check on Shen Qi when he saw her emerging at the hospital entrance.
He got out of the car to open the car door in a hurry. “Miss, you are back.”
Shen Qi grabbed the car door and got into the car while saying, “Mr. Nan, sorry for keeping you waiting.”
Mr. Nan got into the car as well before asking, “Oh, it’s ok. Are we going to keep waiting?”
Shen Qi leaned back with her eyes shut. She shook her head and said, “No. Let’s go back.”
A sense of melancholy shrouded over her. She seemed sadder than before, giving off a vibe of distress and forlorn which felt unsettling.
Although Mr. Nan was not sure what happened inside the hospital, he did not ask anything and drove the car as she instructed.
“Miss, do we return to the hotel now?”
“Mm-hmm,” replied Shen with a nod.
Since Ye Moxuan is only in love with Han Xueyou, there is no need for me to go looking for him anymore.
As for the divorce procedures, I might need someone to help me handle it.
Just when she was deep in her thoughts, a notification beeped on her phone—it was an incoming text message.
Shen Qi glanced at the screen and realized that the message was from Han Qing.
‘Where are you?’
Shen Qi read her text and recalled what she needed him for help.
‘On the way back to the hotel.’
After that, Shen Qi pondered for a while. She was just about to ask if he was free to meet up when he replied to her first.
‘I am heading to the hotel now. I’ll meet you there.’
Shen Qi was stunned when she read that he was coming over to the hotel. Nevertheless, she acknowledged his text before putting her phone away.
After a while, Shen Qi couldn’t stop but blurt out, “Mr. Nan, did you call President Han?”
Mr. Nan smiled in embarrassment when he heard that, and he nodded awkwardly while admitting to it. “Yes, I was worried since you went into the hospital for such a long time. I’m so sorry. Next time…”
“It’s ok, Mr. Nan. You did good,” Shen Qi answered with a faint smile before closing her eyes again. “But I’m a little tired now. I need to take a nap.”
“Sure, Miss. Go ahead. I will wake you up once we arrive at the hotel.”
“Thank you.”
Shen Qi closed her eyes to sleep. Actually, she wasn’t sleepy at all as her mind was jumbled up. However, she did not want to overthink, and she figured that she might be able to escape from her problems by closing her eyes.
When the car arrived at the hotel, Shen Qi opened her eyes again and thanked Mr. Nan.
“Thank you, Mr. Nan.”
“Are you already awake? I was going to wake you up.”
“It’s alright. Thank you.”
Shen Qi opened the door, got out of the car, and went straight upstairs.
When she arrived at her room, she saw Han Qing waiting for her by the door.
Shen Qi halted for a while when she saw Han Qing from afar before walking toward him.
“Pr-President Han.”
“You’re back?” Han Qing smiled at her tenderly and reached out subconsciously to caress her head. Shen Qi was taken aback by his reaction that she dodged him reflexively before she could process it.
Han Qing’s hand was left hanging awkwardly mid-air, but he didn’t seem to mind as he flashed her a smile and retracted his hand.
