Jiang Xiaobai narrated the whole story to Xiao Su.
She believed that it would be difficult to say it out. When she had to talk about it, she found that it was such an unbearable pain in her heart. Upon finishing her story, the knot in her heart was untied as she heaved a sigh of relief and lowered her gaze.
“That’s the whole story. I’m done.”
Xiao Su followed her gaze. “So you’re not happy because of this?”
Hearing that, Jiang Xiaobai was startled and looked at his dark gaze in shock.
“My mom let you make the decision. So what is it?”
Jiang Xiaobai parted her lips without saying a word.
“Have you not made up your mind, or you just don’t dare to tell me your decision?”
“What do you mean?” Jiang Xiaobai bit her lip and stared at him as she didn’t understand what he was trying to say.
“I’ve made myself clear. Don’t you get it?” Xiao Su replied gently. He reached out and placed his hand on the back of her head before pulling her into his arms. “I told you before I’d take up the responsibility, but you demanded an observation stage. Now that there’s a chance for me to get past that stage, of course I’m more than happy.”
He’s more than happy? Does that mean that he still wants to be with me upon hearing the outcome?
Jiang Xiaobai’s heart softened as she leaned on his shoulder. “So you’re saying that you don’t care about the outcome of the fortune-telling?”
“Why should I care about it?” Xiao Su lowered his gaze to look at her eyes and held her hands. “Isn’t the present more important than the future? Moreover, we should take control of our own fates. I almost died in the plane crash, but I survived. You know what? If I never struggled when the crash happened, I might have died. It was because I struggled that only my face was hurt instead of my brain.”
Jiang Xiaobai’s heart throbbed when she heard that. It was the first time Xiao Su talked about his past. She was curious how he was left with such a scar on his face on their first meeting. In fact, she did not find the scar ugly as she thought it was manly.
However, there were some people who found the scar horrible.
“Do you remember the first time I went to your home? When a madam said that my scar was ugly, it was you who stood up for me.”
At the mention of this incident, Jiang Xiaobai remembered that she spoke up for him.
She just thought that it was she who asked Xiao Su for help, so how could that madam be so rude and said that his scar was ugly?
That was the kind of behavior Jiang Xiaobai most disdained of, therefore she subconsciously spoke up for him. She never expected that he would mention that incident again.
“Were you touched because of that?”
Xiao Su smiled and answered gently, “I was. After all, we were just pretending to be partners. Who would have thought that we would continue to be together? But you were willing to stand up for me at that moment.”
It was just a small favor from Jiang Xiaobai, but he remembered it until now.
“So if I were resigned to fate at that time, you wouldn’t have found me later.” Xiao Su held her hands as their fingers crossed. “So why do you think I’m telling you this?”
Jiang Xiaobai remained silent, for she understood what he was trying to say.
“You’re a clever woman. Why don’t you enlighten me?”
Jiang Xiaobai blushed upon hearing that. “Why are you sweet-talking all of a sudden? I was sad just a moment ago, but right after you said those things…”
The sorrowful atmosphere vanished into thin air.
“If you don’t want to say it, I’ll do it for you,” Xiao Su seemed to have suddenly turned from a dork to an experienced lover as he continued speaking. Perhaps it was time to express his true feelings, and he just couldn’t stop talking.
“I don’t believe in fate, and I won’t resign myself to fate. I don’t care whether the fortune teller is right. It has nothing to do with me, because I won’t live my life according to it. I have my own plans and dedications in my life, so I won’t be affected by what others say.”

“I’ll bite you whenever you interrupt me.”
Jiang Xiaobai’s mouth twitched when she heard that, but she couldn’t refute him. Hey, why is he so dominating all of a sudden?! And… he’s so masculine!
Without saying a word, she just stared at him. “Alright, I won’t interrupt. Go on!”
After Xiao Su was interrupted, the emotions he had mustered vanished completely. Therefore, he wasn’t in the mood for sweet talk anymore as he gazed at her and said, “Anyway, the ball is in your court. If you need me, I’ll always be with you.”
Jiang Xiaobai was stunned as it never crossed her mind that he would say such a thing.
“Since we’re still in the observation stage, you can dump me any time.”
Hearing that, Jiang Xiaobai scowled in displeasure. “What are you talking about? It sounds like I am the type who will dump you anytime. Moreover, why did you tell me to make the decision? I told you the story because I felt that you had the right to make that decision as well!”
“I know.” Xiao Su nodded and whispered, “But since the moment we got together, I’ve given the right to make the decision to you. I’ll be here if you need me, but if you don’t want me…”
“What will you do if I don’t want you?”
Jiang Xiaobai widened her clear eyes in an attempt to read the emotions and thoughts behind his gaze.
Without saying a word, Xiao Su looked straight into her eyes.

If she was given more time, she could make Xiao Su fall in love with her.
