An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori Chapter 1277

“Wait a second!” Caldwell suddenly came back to his senses. He quickly exclaimed, “You can’t seriously believe what this brat is saying, can you? He’s not even from Harmony Healers! Don’t be fooled!”

“Fooled?” The head bodyguard looked Dustin up and down before he frowned and asked, “You’re not a doctor?”

“I’m not a doctor from Harmony Healers, but I do have some medical knowledge,” Dustin told him honestly. He had nothing to hide.

“Hmph! If Harmony Healers can’t save her, what makes you think you can?” Caldwell snarled. “Just because you can’t doesn’t mean I can’t too. As I told you, you were using the wrong method,” Dustin said calmly.

“Rubbish! I’m Dr. Busch’s star apprentice! Who are you to compare yourself to me?” Caldwell fumed in frustration.

“I don’t want to waste time with you. Move aside. Don’t distract me from saving the patient,” Dustin said impatiently.

He really couldn’t understand what was going on inside Caldwell’s head. Was he trying to stop Dustin from saving the patient just because he failed to do so himself?

“Hey, rascal, I’m warning you, this is the daughter of the Welch family. “If anything happens to her, you won’t be able to appease them even if you pay with your life!” Caldwell threatened. The crowd nodded in agreement at what he said.

“Hey buddy, don’t try to be a hero. If even a doctor from Harmony Healers can’t help her, what can you do for her?

“That’s right! This is a life on the line! You can’t be messing around! This is not the time for you to play hero!”

“Youngsters these days do not know their place. He thinks he can show off just because he has a few tricks up his sleeves. He doesn’t seem to value life at all!”

The elder folks around them chattered incessantly. Some advised Dustin against it, and some doubted him.

In their eyes, Harmony Healers was the best medical center in the area. This was where they sought medical help whenever they suffered any sickness or complicated conditions. For this young man in his twenties to show off his medical skills at Harmony Healers, he was just arrogant.

“We don’t have much time left. It’s your call whether or not I help her.”

Dustin could not be bothered to waste his breath on them.

He looked at the head bodyguard and said, “If you trust me, I’ll help her, and Ms. Welch still has a chance at life. If you do not, we can all just forget I ever said anything.”

He had the intention to save her. But if his help were not wanted, he would not waste his effort lest they repay his kindness with ungratefulness.

“Hey, don’t trust him! He’s just a swindler!”

“These people will do anything to show off and make themself known!”

“Your best bet is to send Ms. Welch to the hospital right away! There might still be hope for her!” Caldwell suggested in a rush of panic.

If Eleanor were to die in Harmony Healers, the blame would be on Caldwell. But if she were to die at the hospital, he could use Dr Busch’s reputation and attempt to evade the responsibility.

“It’s too late to send her to the hospital now. We’ve only three minutes left to resuscitate Ms. Welch. Once the three minutes are up, not even God can save her,” Dustin said.

“That’s rubbish! If we send Ms. Welch to the hospital in time, she’ll be fine! “If you keep causing a disturbance here, you’ll delay Ms. Welch from getting the treatment she needs!

“You’ll be responsible for anything that happens to her then!” Caldwell roared in exasperation.

“Let’s not waste time on useless talk. Give me an answer now. Do I save her or not?” Dustin looked straight at the head bodyguard.

The head bodyguard looked at Eleanor, who looked no different from a corpse. Then, he nodded firmly. “Save her! Do it at once!”

Though he had no medical knowledge, one thing he knew was that time was of the essence. They had to be fast, or she’d be done for.

But the nearest hospital was 20 minutes away by car. At this point, they did not have the luxury of time. Dustin was his last resort.

“Excuse me, how can you let a swindler treat someone of Ms. Welch’s status like him? Who would be responsible if anything happened to her?” Caldwell panicked.

“Shut the fuck up!” The head bodyguard gave him another hard slap.

“You asshole! This is all your fault! If anything happens to Ms. Welch, you’re the first one I murder, you motherfucker!”

“What?” Caldwell held his stinging cheek, looking like death was upon his door. He had been attempting to shift the blame onto Dustin, but that didn’t seem to work well for him. “Move aside.”

Summary An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori

Dahlia Nicholson and Dustin Rhys had been married for three years. After Dahlia’s meteoric rise to success, she abandons the useless dead weight that’s Dustin, proposing divorce. Unbeknownst to her, everything she had ever achieved was only because of him.

Chapter 1 “Dustin, here is the divorce agreement prepared by Ms. Nicholson. All you need to do is sign them.” In the president’s office of the Quine Group, the secretary, Lyra Blaine, placed a piece of A4 paper on the table. A man sat opposite her, dressed in plain clothing. “Divorce? What do you mean?” Dustin Rhys was taken aback. “Do you not understand what I’m saying? Your marriage with Ms. Nicholson is over. You’re not even on the same level anymore. Your existence is nothing but a smear on the president’s reputation!” Lyra pulled no punches as she spoke. “A smear on her reputation?” Dustin frowned. “Is that how she thinks of me?” Back when they first got married, the Nicholson family was in ruinous debt. He was the one who helped them when they were at their lowest point. Now that they were rich, Dahlia Nicholson was ready to just kick him out. “Something like that.” Lyra jerked her chin toward the magazine on the table. A photo of a beautiful woman was printed on the front page. “Look at the headline on this magazine, Dustin. Ms. Nicholson’s net worth has hit one billion in the course of just three years, a feat no short of a miracle. She’s now the most desired woman in Swinton! With all this, she’s destined for greatness. But you, you’re just a regular joe. You don’t deserve her at all. I hope that you’ll see some sense and do the right thing.” When Dustin remained silent, Lyra frowned. “I know you’re not happy with this, but this is reality,” she continued. “You might have helped Ms. Nicholson when she was in trouble, but she has repaid you for everything you’ve done for her over the last three years. In fact, you’re the one who owes her now!” “Is our marriage just a business deal to her, then?” Dustin took a deep breath to suppress the emotions within. “If she wants to divorce me, let her speak to me herself.” “Ms. Nicholson is very busy. She doesn’t need to trouble herself with such trifling matters.” “Trifling matters?” Dustin was stunned. Then he laughed bitterly. “Is that so? Is divorce a trifling matter to her? She can’t even find the time to speak to me. Truly, she’s that unattainable now!” “Dustin, don’t delay this any longer.” Lyra pushed the divorce agreement toward him again. “Just sign here and you’ll get a car and a house as compensation. On top of that, you’ll also get eight million dollars. This is more than what you’ll be able to earn in your lifetime!” “Eight million dollars is a lot, but…I don’t need it. I will sign the divorce papers if she comes personally. Otherwise, I won’t sign anything,” Duston said coldly. “Don’t go too far, Dustin!” Lyra slammed her hand on the table. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. With all her power and resources, Ms. Nicholson can divorce you easily. It’s only because she appreciates her past relationship with you that she’s allowing you to keep your dignity intact. Don’t provoke her!” “My dignity?” Dustin was a little amused by that. She didn’t even want to speak to him directly to divorce him. What kind of dignity was that? Moreover, if she really did appreciate their relationship, then why was she threatening him now?
