“No… I feel that they don’t like me,” Adrian said apprehensively.
“Your father said that he has brought you to see many doctors to cure you. He has paid me a huge sum too. If he doesn’t love you, he wouldn’t have spent so much money to cure you.” Avery only comforted him that way because his family did not actually abuse him.
If he said that his family humiliated or physically abused him, Avery would have immediately flown to Bridgedale to help him.
