Triplet’s Secret Chapter 31

Chapter 31 Uncle You Look Handsome

“Sure, but it has to be stable after tomorrow,” Feng Beichen replied coldly. It would be in her best interest to stop while she can. If she gets too greedy, I will definitely punish her severely.

“Alright, understood.” Zhong Zhen cried tears of joy thinking how lucky she was to meet such a person.

After the surgery, it was dangerous for women to return home late at night. Plus, it would be troublesome without knowing when the surgery would end. Feng Beichen reached into his desk drawer for his car keys. He threw them to her and with a husky voice said, “Drive my car and prepare my clothing tomorrow.”

I am obviously taking care of a big baby. Well, I will just let it go since he looked kind and cute.

“Alright, I will try my best,” Zhong Zhen replied as she did not have any say in this matter besides showing gratitude.

Feng Beichen remained silent and continued on with his work. This woman will forever be the mother of my twins no matter what. It will be troublesome if she gets into trouble.

Is this the only reason for me to be considerate of her? Then it will be best for her to stay away from me or better yet, I’ll just give her more money!

He had never given much thought about her before but ever since they met, he had a strong urge to keep her within his control.

Xiang Ming knocked on the door softly and came into the room. He said, “Are you sure you want to allow her to work here?”

“How is the investigation going?” asked Feng Beichen as he avoided Xiang Ming’s question.

Xiang Ming shook his head and replied, “Same as before. There’s not much progress.”

Feng Beichen raised his head as he typed on the keyboard. With an intrigued look on his face, he replied, “We will start from her.”

Xiang Ming nodded and replied, “Understood, then shall we start with…” Feng Beichen interrupted him before he could finish his sentence, “There is no need for that.”

She would be moving into the villa tomorrow; he would rather find out her circumstances on his own.

Xiang Ming was confused but he knew that the orders were absolute.

After Zhong Zhen rushed to the hospital to sign some paperwork and make payment, she sat outside of the operating theater and waited patiently.

It was an endless wait. Zhong Zhen had always wished for a person who could lend her a shoulder to cry on during these hard times.

However, people would always distance themselves from her whenever they found out about her situation. She felt as though she could see right through people’s true intentions during this period.

“Nurse, is it serious? How much longer will it take?” Halfway through the wait, a nurse came out from the operation theater. She ran up to her and asked nervously for the latest situation.

The fear of uncertainty was exhausting. It is as though waiting in the dark, never knowing what monster will get to me first. Hence I need the guidance from the light of hope. As long as I put my heart into it, I will definitely get out of this hellhole.

“We are still in the middle of surgery, so do not worry too much.” The nurse comforted her, knowing that she was feeling anxious. All they could do now was to console each other and brace for the worst.

But how could I not be worried? That is my mother inside that room!

What could she do beside worry? She still could not wake her up! She was used to put up a smiling face to get on with life, as she was aware that crying would not change anything.

The surgery ended successfully. However, the patient was required to stay in the ICU for further observations. It was to prevent further infection and family members were advised to accompany her at all times.

All Zhong Zhen could do now was to agree with everything thrown her way. How should she respond to get the optimal outcome for both family and work? She felt devastated while looking at her mother.

She knew she would be jeopardizing herself if she stayed to look after her mother. But how could she leave her mother in a state like this?

Wen He called the hospital just at this moment. The nurse on duty came up to Zhong Zhen and asked, “Are you Zhong Zhen? There is a phone call for you.”

How could that person have known that she was at this hospital? Zhong Zhen frantically searched for her phone and finally noticed that her phone battery had died. She had forgotten about this with all the commotion since last night.

She asked the nurse to help her charge the phone while she talked to Wen He.

Wen He was worried and angrily asked her, “Tianyou and I were worried sick about you, do you know that? How could you not know that your phone had died?”

“It is almost daylight soon. Why is Tianyou not asleep? Everything is alright now. Go get some sleep as he has school tomorrow!” Zhong Zhen was in a mess right now as she did not know which side to tend to first.

Tianyou answered seriously, “No, I want to see you. You said before that it will be difficult for us to meet once I enter that kindergarten.”

This child always had so much on his mind and he was too mature for his age.

“Baby, I promise to visit when I’m free. Alright?” Zhong Zhen hoped he would not visit the hospital often as she felt that it was full of viruses. Plus, she did not want others to see both of them together.

Tianyou started to get emotional after hearing her reply. He said, “Zhong Zhen, how can you be so selfish? You expect me not to worry while you, a young lady, go to the hospital alone and at the same time need to raise money? It’s decided. Either Aunt He sends me over now or I’m not going to the kindergarten anymore!”

Zhong Zhen had no choice but to agree for them to visit her at the hospital.

While staring at the other patients in the ICU, Zhong Zhen was contemplating on how she was going to explain to Feng Beichen. She felt doubtful about her ability to go over to him today.

Late at night, Wen He brought Tianyou along to the hospital and the three chatted in the hallway.

“Zhong Zhen, stay strong! I will protect you when I grow up.” Tianyou promised solemnly as though he would grow up in a blink of an eye.

Zhong Zhen felt warmth from her son’s words of encouragement.

“Thank you, baby!” Zhong Zhen answered happily while caressing his face. His companionship meant a lot to her. Without him, she wouldn’t know how to move on after all this chaos.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed through the hallway which distracted their conversation. All of them turned and looked toward the source at the same moment.

“Ah!” Zhong Zhen’s eyes widened in disbelief as she saw Feng Beichen standing in front of her. “Mr. Feng!”

As Feng Beichen’s gaze locked on the group, he wondered about the child’s identity.

“Uncle, you look handsome!” Tianyou expressed candidly while staring at an oncoming Feng Beichen.
