The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 992 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 992

Madelyn put her thoughts aside and focused on her work. Soon after, she received messages from Dorian and Clement.

The studio planned to hold a meeting and a gathering for the people working there. Madelyn looked at the group chat and saw everyone urging her to attend. The group chat was lively as many people were texting there.

[Madelyn, you must attend!]

[Yes! You left in a hurry last time, and we didn’t have a chance to chat with you.]

Many people were still sending messages in the group chat. Madelyn muted it and replied to the two people: [ I’ll try to make it.]

Madelyn had a lot of work to do. Many people were waiting for her draft, so she could not waste any time.

The nights during winter always seemed a little longer. After confirming with the client that her draft was acceptable, she wanted to send it to the studio. Then, she thought about the gathering tonight and decided only to send the draft tomorrow as she did not want to spoil her colleagues’ mood and make them work overtime.

Madelyn stood up and rubbed her neck as the sky got completely dark. A maid knocked on the door and said, “Mrs. Jardin, dinner is ready.”

Madelyn opened the door, stepped out, and saw the maid standing outside. Madelyn responded, “I’m eating outside today.”

The maid followed her and said, ” Before Mr. Jardin went out, he mentioned that you don’t have to attend the company’s annual dinner party tonight, but you can’t go out either unless you call him and let him know. Also, don’t forget to take your medicine.”

Madelyn thought, ‘Cecilia has actually done so much for me. She ruined my wedding photoshoot with him, and now I don’t even need to attend the annual dinner party.’

She did not respond to the maid. Instead, she just closed the master bedroom’s door to block the sounds that annoyed her. Madelyn changed into a different outfit and called for a car.

She was holding her phone as she walked downstairs. She wore a beige knitted sweater and a black knitted slit skirt. The snug attire outlined her well- proportioned figure. She tied her long hair with a hairband and draped a red scarf over her arm. She was also carrying a bag. Her outfit was casual but elegant.

The maid asked, “Mrs. Jardin, are you really going out? Mr. Jardin has instructed that you can’t go out today.”

Madelyn ignored the maid and walked to the entrance. She wore her flat shoes and said, “He doesn’t get to tell me what to do. I won’t be eating the meal on the table, so you all can have it to avoid wasting food.”

In the yard, Margaret was walking with Dalton on the snowy ground. Madelyn took out a gift card envelope from her bag and stepped forward, “This is for you. You should go home for the holidays.”

Margaret carried Dalton, “Oh my, I can’t accept this!” Though she said that, she still accepted the money, “If I leave, who’ll take care of Dalton? After so long, I got somewhat attached to him.”

Madelyn glanced at Dalton. He was drooling and smiling. He leaned forward and wanted Madelyn to carry him. But she remained indifferent. She merely glanced at him and did not make any move to carry him.

Madelyn responded, “No worries, the studio will take a break after today. I’ll leave Dal temporarily to the other maids. I’ll try to watch him, too. He’ll be fine. I might not have given you as much money as him, but it should be enough for you to spend.”

Margaret replied, “Okay, thank you so much!”

Then, a regular taxi had just arrived. Madelyn did not call for a private hire car.

The maid anxiously called Zach. When the call was connected, it was noisy on Zach’s end. The maid said, “Mr. Jardin, Mrs. Jardin has left. Yes… She left alone and took a red scarf with her. She didn’t mention where she’s going.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
