The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 952

Madelyn cautiously approached Zach and realized that he was just lying still. She figured that given how vigilant he was, he would have been awake when she was this close.

Madelyn reached out to touch him, “Z- Zach?” she called out to him softly.

At this moment, Zach abruptly opened his eyes. The hostility in his eyes startled Madelyn. In the next second, he forcefully grabbed her hand and threw her onto the bed. After that, he went on top of her.

Madelyn was like a frightened puppy, feeling lost and scared. Zach then placed her head next to her ear, and she could hear his faint breath, as if he had fallen asleep.

“Zach, you’re hurting me. Get up.”

Zach stayed still.

Very soon, Madelyn felt that something was wrong. His body was scorching.

She looked down on her light-colored nightgown and found out that it had been dyed red with fresh blood. She suddenly held her breath and noticed that Zach had not treated his wound on his neck, which was already festering.

‘Is it infected and causing him a fever?

‘No wonder he didn’t respond to me at all.’ Madelyn thought to herself.

“Zach, wake up. Let me go. You’re hurting me!”

“Hey, you pig! Wake up!”

No matter how loud Madelyn shouted, Zach showed no response at all. However, his arm was still tightly wrapped around her waist.

“Ethan, you’re back!”

As soon as Madelyn said that, Zach suddenly opened his eyes, lifted his ferocious eyes, and stared at her. He breathed rapidly, and the strong, unpleasant scent of cigarette emanated from his body. “You’re not going anywhere!” He seemed to be suppressing discomfort as he uttered those words in a low, hoarse voice.

He was going to kiss Madelyn, but Madelyn was fueled by an unexpected burst of strength that helped her to push him away effortlessly. Madelyn could finally catch her breath after Zach got off her. Even so, Zach’s grip on her wrist had not loosened at all.

She lifted her other hand and tried to pull his hand away, but he just would not budge at all. Madelyn began to suspect that Zach might be pretending to be unconscious.

After a few attempts, she finally gave up. Now that he was sick, it was the perfect opportunity for her to leave. If she were to wait for him to wake up, who knew when the next chance would come.

“Zach, you’re sick. I’ll go get medicine for you,” Madelyn said. This seemed to work, as she felt Zach loosening his grip on her hand.

Madelyn pulled her hand away and rubbed her wrist. She began rummaging through cabinets, looking for her ID and passport. She would not be able to go anywhere without these documents.

After searching for about half an hour, she went into the study. Under where Zach kept his important files, Madelyn found her ID. Then, the phone beside his computer caught her attention.

Madelyn glanced nervously at the open door before picking up the phone. Zach’s phone was not locked by any password, so she could easily gain access to it.

She opened the contacts application on his phone, found Kevin’s number, and sent him a text message. After editing it several times, she finally managed to text in a manner similar to Zach: [Send me Mya Harper’s location.]

She hit the send button.

Kevin had just finished a small meeting and was surprised to see Zach sending him a text message because they usually communicated through calls.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
