The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 905

Lana took a sip and said, “This is actually quite good. I’ll ask the maid later how it’s made so we could try it at home.”

Kai agreed, “Sure.”

Half an hour later, Madelyn woke up in a foul mood, not feeling her best. While arguing with Zach, she got so annoyed that she ended up throwing a pillow at him, which hit his face. This happened just as Kai and Lana came out from Zach’s study and entered Madelyn’s room.

Kai said, “Seems like Madelyn’s feeling better now.”

Madelyn’s relationship with Kai was cold; she maintained her usual distance from him. Seeing an unfamiliar pregnant woman at Kai’s side, Madelyn offered him a nod of acknowledgment. Zach spent the day picking up pillows, a task that had become routine whenever Madelyn lost her temper. Kai and Lana, acknowledging the situation but choosing not to engage, intertwined their hands and left the room together.

Zach handed Madelyn a cup of water and said, “Take your medicine before leaving the bed; you’re ill. If you’re worried about work, remember that Jardin Corporation has many capable hands. Anyone could step in for you.”

Madelyn replied, “So you say. I’ll get up after the medicine, then.”

“Really, I mean it.”

Madelyn quickly grabbed the medicine from Zach’s hand, gulped it down, and then finished her water in one swift motion. Knowing her well, Zach had preemptively prepared fuzzy socks for her feet. As he layered her in warm clothing, he softly said, “Getting sick even while at home, how should I handle you?”

“I’ll overheat,” said Madelyn.

“You need to listen, or you’re staying put,” Zach replied. Madelyn fixed a stern look on him, ” Tyrant. Dictator. Jerk.”

Zach responded with a slight chuckle, ” Which tyrant would care to put socks on you and make sure you’re dressed comfortably? You’re not giving any credit where it’s due.”

Madelyn wore a cream-colored knit cap that covered her increasingly long hair. Zach, preferring the indoors cozy, had asked the maids to keep most of the villa’s windows closed.

Outside, in the Jent residence’s expansive garden, Kai asked a maid to fetch a warm shawl for Lana. Wrapped up, they ambled through the yard, their fingers entwined. Lana looked up at Kai, “Will you leave tomorrow?”

Kai squeezed her hand reassuringly, ” I’m not leaving. The experiment’s done, and I’m awaiting the details of the next project. Besides, I want to spend the New Year with you here. It wouldn’t sit right with me to leave you on your own.”

“Good. You’ll be able to spend more time with me at home now,” Lana said. After a pause, she called out softly, ” Kai?”

“Yes?”

“How did we first meet? And why did we decide to get married? I’m struggling to remember these things.” She sighed, “All I recall is waking up to find you next to me. Was there an accident that I can’t remember?”

Furthermore, Lana was haunted by recurring dreams of a man dressed in white. His face, always out of focus, eluded her grasp in the dream world. She would reach out, but he would always slip away. This left her in a wakeful state, her heart aching with a mysterious pain that refused to fade with the morning light.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
