The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 888

The server looked troubled. She asked, ” What do you-

But before she could finish her question, Mya quickly put thirty dollars on the table and rushed out the door. Tears streamed down her face as she left The Deli.

The server wanted to follow Mya, calling out, “Ms. Harper!”

But Mya had already left.

The server hurriedly told the woman who was making fun, “Don’t you know who she is? That’s Mya Harper, the heiress to the Harper Nutritional Enterprise. She’s also friends with Madelyn Jent, who is close with Zach Jardin. Several dishes here are actually Ms. Jent’s own recipes, specially made for Ms. Harper.”

The group that was laughing couldn’t find anything funny anymore after hearing that. The news hit them hard because all four had just gotten jobs as models for Harper Nutritional Enterprises. They had signed the contract but hadn’t started the photo shoots yet.

“Can we… say sorry to her now? Did we mess things up?” one worried.

“It’s your fault for talking so mean. Now we upset her, and I’m probably losing my job,” blamed another.

“Why are you blaming me? You laughed just as much as I did,” defended the third woman.

After running for a while, Mya stopped at a crepe stall by the road. With tears in her eyes, she took out two dollars and bought a crepe. She ate it while waiting for the bus, wiping away a tear and saying, ‘What’s wrong with being a pig? Pigs are cute.’

Close by, Fred sneered with disdain.

What a loser.”

“Drive over there,” Fred commanded.

“Yes, sir.”

While Mya enjoyed half of the crepe, her mouth covered in melted butter, she heard a car horn. She looked up to see the same car parked in front of her. Surprised, her eyes widened. She thought, ‘Didn’t he leave earlier? Why is he still here?’

To Mya, seeing Fred again was like facing a demon; she didn’t hesitate to jump into a cab. After stating her destination, the driver quickly pulled away.

Watching his “pet” escape, Fred was immediately displeased. But then, he realized that his earlier attitude might have scared her.

Fred’s deputy asked, “Should we go after her?”

Fred decided not to. He said, “Let her go this time, but make sure those women in The Deli understand what they can and cannot say.

“There have been eyes on us lately, so we might need to hire some thugs to handle it,” said Fred’s deputy. Fred squinted and he responded indifferently. “Fine.”

Relieved that Fred didn’t follow, Mya gently stroked her belly and whispered to her tummy, “Be good, little one. I’m going to eat well so you can grow big and strong.”

When she got home, Mya found a table full of dishes prepared by Grace. Grace commented, “Wandering off again? It’s dark, and you’re just getting home. If this keeps happening, no dinner for you. And what’s going on with your eyes? Have you been crying? Did someone bully you again?”

Mya took off her rabbit hat and quickly went to the dining table. She said, “No one bullied me. It’s just so cold outside that my eyes hurt.”

Grace showed concern. “Let me see,” she insisted. “Are they hurting? Maybe we should call the doctor.”

“No, Mom, I’m okay now. The pain’s gone,” Mya reassured Grace.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
