The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 882

With anticipation, Madelyn picked up the phone and greeted, “Hi, Mya.”

Mya’s choked sobs came through the line. “Madelyn…”

Sensing the distress in her friend’s voice, Madelyn exchanged a glance with Zach, and stepped out of their flower room into a quieter area. She asked, “What’s happened? You sound upset.”

Stammering, Mya finally managed to speak. “I-I-I think I might be pregnant, Madelyn.”

“Pregnant?” Madelyn couldn’t believe her ears. “How could you be pregnant? What’s really going on, Mya?”

Mya was at her home in Harper residence. She held a soft, plush bunny close to her chest, her face buried in its fur, and said, “Madelyn, I got intimate with Fred. Now, I think there’s a baby in me.”

Madelyn felt like the breath had been knocked out of her. She said, “Mya, this isn’t something to joke about. You really did that with him?”

Mya’s voice was muffled. “He deceived me, Madelyn. He’s a bad man.”

Madelyn took a moment to absorb Mya’s confession, her thoughts immediately darkened. ‘What’s in the mind of that scoundrel to trick an innocent girl like Mya?’

“First thing you need to do is get to a hospital for a checkup, Mya,” Madelyn advised. “See if you’re really pregnant. Don’t panic just yet. It might be nothing.”

“But… I’ve missed my period for a while now,” Mya confessed.

“How long?” Madelyn asked.

“A good while, Madelyn. What should I do if I’m pregnant? I can’t let my parents find out. I’ve only told you about this.”

“I’ll accompany you to the hospital for a checkup. Let’s hang up for now.”

Zach approached Madelyn, gently tucking a beautiful peony flower behind her ear. He asked, “What did Mya say?”

For the first time since they had met, Madelyn turned away from Zach, anger clouding her face. She tossed the flower aside and said, “If you can’t keep your promises, don’t make them in the first place. Liar!”

Madelyn stomped away, crushing the flower beneath her foot.

Zach felt a bit surprised. ‘Is she really giving me attitude now? Well, that’s okay. It’s good she can still show her feelings, even if it’s directed at me. She’s got quite a temper.”

Zach grabbed his phone and called Kevin. Kevin, who was busy at Jardin Corporation, handed his cup of water to his assistant, Blake, and stepped out to take the call. “Yes, Sir.”

“What’s happened with Mya?” Zach’s voice came through the phone, crisp and serious.

Kevin’s face turned solemn. He said, Sir, I was about to report this to you. Mr. Turner has taken an interest in Ms. Harper. Not too long ago, he took her from a restaurant to a hotel when she was all drunk. Our men reached there, but it was too late.”

“And when did he start showing interest in her?” Zach’s voice hardened. “Find out every detail about them.”

Kevin replied, “Yes, Sir.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
