The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 862

Mya squinted her eyes and shielded the blinding light with her hand. The vehicle slowly approached her until it stopped next to her.

She saw the car window on the driver’s side roll down and instantly held her breath. Her delicate face revealed a frightful look under the night sky, and she dared not to look at the terrifying man in the rear passenger seat.

“Ms. Harper, Mr. Turner would like to have a chat with you.”

‘Wh-Wh-Why would he be here? Didn’t he leave already? Madelyn told me to stay away from him.

‘He’s not a good person.’ Mya thought to herself.

After what had happened to her in the past, Mya was afraid of associating herself with people like Fred.

“I-I-I-I…” Mya nervously clutched the strap of her bag in front of her chest and stuttered, not knowing how to react. She blinked her innocent eyes, feeling scared.

At this moment, a green car arrived. Mya wasted no time, turned around, and ran into the car. “Quick, quick…/start the car…”

“Ms. Harper, what happened? Are you okay?” The driver asked.

“Stop asking questions. Just start driving!”

The driver did not know what was happening but quickly drove away anyway. Then, Mya looked back anxiously.

In the other car, the deputy warden said to Fred, “Mr. Turner, she ran away!”

Fred had a cigar in his hand, with its smoke surrounding him. He saw the panicked expression on Mya’s face but could not figure out why she would be so scared.

‘Things are getting interesting.’ He thought to himself.

“Follow her,” Fred instructed the deputy warden.

Mya noticed that Fred’s car was following her and felt uneasy. She turned back, clutched her chest, and tried to comfort herself.

‘Maybe he’ll leave when we get off the freeway later.’

Mya then stopped overthinking.

At the next red light, Mya turned around again and saw that the black military vehicle was still behind her.

Mya felt like crying, ‘Why wouldn’t he just leave me alone?

‘Why is he still following me? What does he want?

‘Is he some kind of stalker?’

In the Jent residence, Zach walked out of the bathroom after showering. He then saw an opened book lying on the bed as Madelyn sat there in a daze. Zach was wearing dark pajamas when he walked toward her while drying his hair, “What are you thinking about?”

“It’s nothing. I’m going to sleep.” Madelyn closed the book and lay on the bed with her back facing him.

After Zach dried his hair, he switched off the lights, lifted the blanket, and slept next to Madelyn.

Madelyn knew that he was up to something, but she ignored it. As he was finally going to make a move, she said, “Why is Fred with Cecilia? And what’s going on between him and Mya?”

Sure enough, Zach paused.

“Have she told you about it?”

Madelyn shook his hand off and sat up.

Zach followed suit.

“I don’t care what happened between all of you, but Zach, I hope you’ll keep your promise to me. Don’t let

Fred do anything to Mya. She’s very innocent and doesn’t know anything.”

Zach pinched the bridge of his nose and said, “He isn’t going to do anything to her.”

“Can you guarantee that?”

Zach said confidently, “I promise. Can we sleep now, hm?”

Madelyn’s head was in chaos. Then, she got out of bed. “I’m going to check on the kid.”

Zach did not stop her. As he watched her leave, he did not feel like sleeping anymore.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
