The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 790

The group dispersed. Seeing Kevin approaching, Blake’s. nervousness became apparent. She quickly spoke, “What they were gossiping about had nothing to do with me, Mr. Harrison. I’m the newbie here, and I have no idea what they were talking about.”

Kevin, a long-time associate of Zach’s, had a presence that resembled his superior’s. In the company, facing Kevin was almost as intimidating as encountering the CEO himself. His mere presence commanded respect and awe from everyone. Kevin, slightly irritated, asked, “Can you handle kids?”

Caught off guard, Blake took a moment to process the question. Kevin’s tone remained impatient as he repeated, “I asked if you could take care of kids. Didn’t you hear?”

Blake replied, “Of course! I can take care of kids of all ages.”

Kevin’s phone buzzed incessantly. Dalton had cried so much that his voice was almost gone, but now he was quiet. Blake took the child, and Kevin left in a hurry. As soon as she held Dalton, he began crying again.

‘Oh no. I don’t know how to comfort kids. Why did I agree to this?’ Blake thought.

An hour later, Zach wrapped up a meeting that was originally scheduled for two hours but had to be cut short due to Dalton’s presence. Realizing he had forgotten something, he swiftly pulled out his phone and dialed a saved number.

Meanwhile, Madelyn was preparing to take a nap when a maid entered the room, holding a phone.

“Ms. Jent,” the servant began, “Mr. Jardin couldn’t reach you on your phone, so he called here. He mentioned that he has something important to discuss.”

Madelyn sighed. “He can tell me when he gets back. I need to rest now.”

The servant hesitated and then added, ” He’s still on the line, waiting.”

Madelyn’s brow furrowed. “Hand me the phone.”

She took the phone and said, “What now?”

From the CEO’s office, Zach explained, “I realized I forgot the milk at home. Can you bring it here? Jordan can drive you.”

Madelyn sat on the bed, her grip on the blanket tightening. “I don’t want to go.. Just have Jordan deliver it.”

Zach took off his suit jacket and sat down, flipping through some papers. Over the phone, he continued, ” Madelyn, Dalton’s crying here at the office. Can you come calm him down?”

“You’re the one who brought him. Handle it. I need to rest.” Madelyn’s tone was sharp. She handed the phone to the maid and instructed, “Don’t disturb me unless it’s urgent. I’ll take calls after my nap.”

“Understood, Ms. Jent.”

Once the maid left, Madelyn settled under the covers, her thoughts drifting to a past event. She recalled a time when she had tried to surprise Zach by delivering lunch to his office. Unfamiliar with the address, she sought help from several acquaintances before taking a cab.

The scorching heat that day nearly gave her a heatstroke. When she arrived at Jardin Tower, the lunch was already cold. As she approached the entrance, she noticed Zach leaving with Cecilia. He gave her a cold glance and drove off. Later at home, he firmly told her not to show up at his office unannounced. She had respected his wish since then.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
