The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 746

Madelyn avoided Zach’s dark gaze and left swiftly. Zach, clearly annoyed, came inside, tossing the car keys on the entryway table. He sank into the couch and lit a cigarette before calling the car service for repairs.

Margaret, seeing Madelyn’s hasty exit, hurried upstairs to avoid a potentially irate Zach.

On her phone, Madelyn opened an email with client requests. In her studio, she began preparations, sure she could finish within the week. Dalton was in his crib, quietly using his pacifier and observing Madelyn, whom she would occasionally soothe.

“Ms. Jent, you should be careful with that hand. It’s not healed, and you might overdo it.”

“I know, but everything in this place is his. I need to pull my weight.” Just then, her nose started to bleed, dropping onto her shirt.

“Madelyn, are you okay?” Margaret asked, handing her some tissues. Madelyn ran into the bathroom and locked the door behind her. When Zach walked in, his gaze immediately fell on the drop of blood on the tile. The faint scent of smoke lingered around him. ” What happened?” he asked.

Margaret answered, “I’m not sure. Ms. Jent just had a sudden nosebleed.”

From outside the bathroom, Zach heard a noise and quickly went over, knocking. “Madelyn, open the door!” He called her name several times but received no response. Growing more worried with each knock, he finally kicked the door open on his third attempt. The broken lock hit the floor, revealing Madelyn, unconscious.  Margaret, who was just a few steps behind him, jumped in surprise.

“I’ll call an ambulance,” she said with a shaky voice. Zach gently picked up Madelyn, his eyes catching the sight of blood on her, causing a chill of fear. As soon as the ambulance arrived, the paramedics rushed Madelyn to the ER. There, under the bright lights and wearing an oxygen mask, a sense of déjà vu overcame her. She felt an overwhelming pressure, making it difficult for her to breathe.

Kai urgently wiped the fresh blood from Madelyn’s neck. “Your illness is progressing faster than I anticipated. How will we handle this? Time is running out for you.”

Feeling dazed and lost in thought, Madelyn met Kai’s gaze. She whispered, “I… I found the hidden chamber you I mentioned.”

As Kai brushed the sweat from Madelyn’s forehead, he gave a cold, unsettling smile. “You should’ve known about this much earlier. Yet, it’s not too late. When Hayson returns, everything will become clear to you. You’ll soon understand your role in all this. When you learn the truth, you’ll see just how awful you really are. When it’s over, I’ll send you and Hayson straight to hell.”

Under the bright lights, Madelyn found it hard to keep her eyes open. “Wh- Who is he?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
