The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 743

Madelyn sensed there was something unusual about the man’s relationship with her mother. Convinced Kai knew more, she quickly took the photo and left. She closed the secret chamber and hid the picture inside a book, planning to retrieve it the next day.

As she opened the door, she saw Zach with wet hair, clearly having just showered. Seeing her without Dalton, he asked, “Where’s Dal?”

“Dal?” Madelyn responded, her surprise evident. ‘I’m sure I left him on the couch. Where is he?’

Out of nowhere, a tiny head appeared from under the desk. Dalton giggled, babbled, and drooled. As he crawled on the soft carpet, Madelyn’s voice was tinged with both urgency and frustration. “Didn’t I just give you a bath? Look at the mess you’ve made.”

Carefully using her left hand, she lifted him, trying not to strain her still- recovering right hand.

Zach had been taking good care of her injury, often using a cold compress to soothe the pain. When it came to personalities and tastes, they were like opposites. Zach was intense, with a love for spicy foods, while Madelyn was more laid-back and could not handle even a hint of spice.

Zach took Dalton, wiping off the drool with a hint of distaste. “Hungry? Want some pasta?”

Madelyn glanced at the time. “It’s getting late. Let’s go to bed.” She stifled a yawn. The rain had stopped outside.

Back in the room, despite the late hour, Zach seemed eager to stick to their nightly routine. Madelyn was always careful with Dalton beside her, especially with the sudden changes in Zach’s mood. She tried her best to remain quiet. Under the covers, Zach’s piercing gaze made her a bit self- conscious. As she reached to switch off the bedside lamp, His unexpected movement made her gasp.

Catching his breath, Zach whispered in a husky tone, “Let’s head to the bathroom.”

Madelyn was taken aback. “Enough, Zach. We need to get some sleep before sunrise.”

The moment Zach’s hand met her skin, Madelyn was flooded with feelings. He carefully helped her up from the bed and walked her to the bathroom, aiding her as she slipped out of her silky nightdress. Her slender shoulders came into view.

Once inside the bathroom, Madelyn fought to keep her composure. Their exchanges often felt too intense to handle. By morning, both were exhausted, leaving Madelyn so beat that she could hardly lift a finger.

At the Young residence, a scream sliced through the air, radiating terror and alarm. The entire household snapped awake. When the servants relayed the news to the butler, even he was taken aback.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
