The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 693

Madelyn’s emotions were a tangle of confusion and dread as she pushed through the door into the sterile hospital room. The sharp scent of disinfectant assailed her senses, heightening her unease.

The moment the door swung open, she saw a man lying on the hospital bed, his face obscured by a respiratory mask. He was emaciated, still in a coma. His hand bore a large, discolored patch of burned skin. He seemed devoid of any signs of healthy flesh.

If Madelyn hadn’t known that the man before her was Ethan, she might not have recognized him at all. She clamped a hand over her mouth, unable to hold back her silent tears.

‘How did things get to this point?’ she thought. Her legs felt like they were made of lead; she wanted to approach him but couldn’t summon the strength.

‘Is all of this my fault?’ swirled through her mind. A voice inside her resonated with guilt: ‘ This happened because of you. He was in that accident searching for you. If you hadn’t run away, he wouldn’t be in this condition.’

It took her some time, but Madelyn eventually shook off her paralyzing emotions and walked up to Ethan’s bedside. Her voice barely more than a whisper, she softly said his name, Ethan.”

Madelyn reached out to touch his hand, only to find it disturbingly cold. She shivered. She wanted to say so much, to somehow awaken him from his coma, but the words were lodged in her throat, refusing to come out. Finally, breaking through her own sobs, she cried, “Ethan, I’ve come back!”

“I don’t know if you can hear me, but please, wake up. Please?” Her voice trembled as she pleaded. Lowering her head, Madelyn let out a muffled sob, her tears dropping to the floor and forming small, transient puddles.

Meanwhile, at the Clerk of Court office, Yvonne had a red skirt on. She held Zach’s arm while a piece of paper was in her other hand. Yvonne was the happiest she had ever been today.

Her face beamed with a joyful smile as the photographer she’d hired snapped pictures to capture the special moment.

In the resulting photo, Zach looked down at Yvonne, who wore a shy but happy smile on her face. In the photo, they appeared every bit the blissful, loving couple of newlyweds.

Yvonne put the certificate into her bag, worried Zach would regret this decision. She then said, “I will be taking care of the marriage certificate in the future. Don’t think of doing anything to it.”

“Should I call you honey from now on? Yvonne asked playfully. Zach stared at Yvonne’s smiling face. In his mind, Madelyn’s face appeared. He suppressed the restlessness in his chest and said, “Do you care so much for this position?”

“Of course, nothing is more important than being your legitimate wife. Did you know, Zach? I’ve loved you so much for many years that my ultimate wish was to become your wife one day. And now, you are finally mine,” Yvonne said.

Zach did not reply. He then asked, ” Where’s the thing that I want?”

“I brought it,” Yvonne knew he agreed to get this certificate with her to obtain something from the Young family. They both had their own goals, and even though Zach didn’t love her now, it didn’t matter to her. As long she was by his side, Yvonne believed that someday Zach would find out no one loved him more than her. He would eventually fall in love with her.

Yvonne took out the shares transfer agreement. She said, “Honey, let’s go home after this! My mom came back from the hospital. She’s waiting at home to celebrate with us.”

The agreement she pulled out were two original copies, and they both had Frida’s signature on them.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
