The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 691

But Yvonne was okay with it. In a short while, she and Zach would be getting their marriage certificate at the Clerk of Court’s office. She believed that after today, she would be Mrs. Jardin officially; the one and only wife of Zach, and nobody could challenge her status.

Everybody had their own self-centered side, and Yvonne was no different. She wasn’t willing to put up with their relationship for long. Once she and Zach got married, she secretly planned to send Madelyn overseas.

Yvonne sidled up to Madelyn, lowering her voice to say, “Ethan never really planned on marrying Donna, you know.

“He’d made up his mind before you left. If you weren’t okay with the kid, he was going to give the child back to Donna and ask her to move out of the Arnold residence. He’d find someone else to raise the child,” Yvonne confided quietly.

She continued, “Remember that news about Ethan getting married two years ago? All a sham. He did the interview to put on a show because Donna was threatening the child’s life. And here’s something I haven’t told you yet: Donna died in that accident two years ago.”

“When Ethan went to Roshya to find you, Donna tagged along. They got into an argument while driving, and they crashed the car.” Yvonne then revealed, “Ethan’s alive, but he’s in a coma at the hospital.”

Hearing this, Madelyn felt her heart lurch. “What are you talking about?” she asked. Yvonne said apologetically, “I’m sorry. I told you Ethan was okay because Zach was there, and no one can challenge Zach right now. He’s suppressed all information about the Arnold family and warned the media not to cover any Arnold family news.

“The Arnolds didn’t make it through the last financial crisis. They’ve liquidated shares and sold off a lot of assets. All they have left is their family home.”

Madelyn felt dizzy and nearly collapsed, but Yvonne steadied her just in time.

“How can this be?” Madelyn choked out, staring at Yvonne. Yvonne replied, “When Ethan was taken to the hospital, the doctors said his legs were already in bad shape. After this crash, they said even if he wakes up, he’ll probably be paralyzed from the waist down. He’ll spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.”

Madelyn couldn’t believe what she was hearing; Ethan had been perfectly fine when he was in France.

“I’m telling you this because I know you still care about Ethan,” Yvonne implored. “Could you visit him? Maybe your presence will help him wake up.

She went on, “You gave him a reason to live once before. You saved him from his darkest moments. You can do it again.” Tears clogged Madelyn’s throat as she tried to speak. “Where is he?” she finally managed to ask.

“He’s at SereneCare Hospital. My mom’s with him. She’d be thrilled if you came,” Yvonne answered. “As for Zach, don’t worry. I’ll handle the distraction. Even the bodyguards work for me. We’re going to apply for a marriage license shortly; you can use that opportunity to slip away.”

Just then, the door swung open. Zach and Kelvin entered the room. Zach’s icy gaze swept over Madelyn, almost as if she weren’t there at all.

He hadn’t yet picked up on Madelyn’s distressed state. Seizing the opportunity, Yvonne walked over to Zach, grinning as she looped her arm through his. “Once we’ve got our marriage license, my mom’s planned a little celebration for us. She even found a bottle of vintage wine to toast our new life together,” she said.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
