The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 684

Frida continued saying, “He said he wasn’t free. He wanted to spend Sylvia’s last few days with her. Don’t you think it’s laughable?! Ethan was his son. And he wasn’t even willing to come back to see him. He even thought I was playing some kind of trick. What a joke!

“Let me tell you, don’t think I don’t know that you’re keeping the Arnold residence’s land deed for that illegitimate child. It’ll never happen!

“If my son is dead, I won’t let him live. I’ll make him die with my son. I’ll make sure the Arnold family line is completely gone.”

Evelyn responded, “Y-You, monster! You’re just trying to force me to death!”

Frida chuckled and said mockingly, ” You did the same to me back then. What goes around comes around. Whatever belongs to Ethan, I’ll take them back for him one by one. Back then you constantly targeted YTCorp just to force me to get a divorce. You tortured me and made me insane. Even that, I still wouldn’t do anything to harm Ethan. He still hates me now.

Now… Everything that happens to your family is just a punishment.”

She then glanced outside the door and said, “Come in!”

Marta’s trembling hands were holding something wrapped in a black cloth as she replied, “M-Ms. Young… This is what you asked for.”

“Y-You two…” Evelyn wanted to snatch the item from Frida. She got off the bed and sat on the ground to tidy herself before crawling toward Frida. Evelyn could not stand up no matter how she tried. She grabbed Frida’s pants as she yelled in a hoarse voice, “This belongs to my family…”

Frida lowered her head and sneered, ” Mom, this is what my son, Ethan Arnold, deserves. He’s the eldest son of the Arnold family, the heir to the Arnold family.

“I’m just taking away what rightfully belongs to him on his behalf. Zach threatened you with Ethan’s life, and you didn’t care. I figured that you’re just waiting for that illegitimate child to come back and hand this over to him with your own hands.

“Do you really think I’m useless?”

Evelyn had lost her strength to shout, Give it back to me.” She coughed several times before spitting out blood unexpectedly. Marta could not bear it and approached her, “Mrs. Arnold Sr.!”

Frida remained indifferent, “You don’t need to resent me. What I’m doing now is no different from what you did to me back then.

“But one thing you can rest assured of is that as long as my son is still alive, this house will forever belong to someone named Arnold. Allowing someone to be by your side to take care of you is my act of kindness.”

Frida turned around. She wiped the bloodstains from her high-heeled shoe with a handkerchief before leaving expressionlessly. Friday got into the car and said, “Go to SereneCare Hospital.”

“Yes, Madam.”

Zach went back to Floral Loft. He received a photo of Madelyn on his phone. He thought, ‘It’s rare to see her going out for a walk. It’s a good thing that she got out of the apartment.”

Under the upscale apartment building, Zach visited the supermarket. He picked up some fruits and a bouquet of flowers. Every fourteenth of the month was considered Valentine’s Day, and the store gave a rose to each homeowner.

Afterward, he took the elevator back up to his apartment. When he opened the door, he found Madelyn lost in thought on the sofa. Zach set down the items he had on the entrance table. Dinner was already prepared and laid out on the dining table.

He playfully snapped the rose and sat beside her. Only then did Madelyn come out of her reverie and notice the rose on her ear. She instinctively reached up to touch the vibrant bloom. She considered removing it, but he said, “It looks beautiful. Don’t take it off.”

He thought, ‘The flower is as beautiful as she is.’

Madelyn halted her hand and said, ‘ Let’s eat.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
