The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 671

Madelyn crouched down to look at the bouquet of flowers that had not withered yet, and it looked just like the one she was holding. She wiped her fingers on the tombstone and realized that it was clean, and the weeds around it seemed to have been cleared a few days ago too.

She figured that it could not possibly be her father because he had moved to Sinagora with Jasmine very long ago.

Who could it be then? There was no picture on the tombstone and only her mother’s name, Alicia Wood, was engraved on it.

Alicia was indeed the most beautiful woman of her time, otherwise, the upper-class circle of Ventropolis would not have crowned her as the prettiest lady. And Madelyn had inherited every part of her mother’s beauty.

Zach stood at the side while smoking in the wind. Madelyn only stood up after he had finished his third cigarette. Mom, very soon… we’ll meet again,” she said.

‘I finally met you after so long,’ she whispered.

“Let’s go home,” she told Zach. A thunder sounded from the sky, and it was going to rain very soon.

They would have a more difficult time going down the hill if they were to stay any longer. “Don’t you have anything else you want to say?”

Madelyn shook her head. “It’s okay. Let’s get going.”

The sky had turned completely dark when they returned to the car. Once inside, Madelyn took out the blazer, handed it back to him, and said, ” Thank you.”

Zach grabbed it and put it over her legs. “It’s getting cold.”

His expression remained calm as he spoke. Madelyn looked out of the window without saying anything in response.

Kevin started the car and drove to The Deli. The manager knew that Zach was coming and immediately greeted him as soon as they arrived. He smiled and bowed at him while extending his arm toward the entrance.

“Mr. Jardin, your private room is ready.

Zach stepped closer to Madelyn and wrapped his arm around her waist. Madelyn glared at him in displeasure as she wanted to keep a distance from him when so many people were looking. However, she just could not break free.

Back then, everyone in town knew that Zach and Yvonne got engaged, yet he came to dine with another woman…

Madelyn knew very well what Zach was trying to do. Everyone that was looking at her with strange eyes kept quiet. After all, there was nothing surprising about a wealthy man having a secret lover. It was the norm.

Besides, Zach was on his way to becoming the richest man in Ventropolis. Under the crowd’s gaze, Zach brought Madelyn to a luxurious private room that had been renovated recently.

The waiters came in with various dishes one after another while the manager stood at the side to serve them. He ladled some soup into a bowl for Madelyn and placed it in front of her, “Ms. Jent, we know that you love the food here, and we even rewarded the chef.

“This is a new dish we just introduced, bluefin tuna freshly caught from Cavern Lake. The name for this dish is ” The Royal Catch”.

Instead of trying it, Madelyn said to the manager, “No need to introduce the dishes to us. You can go about your business.

The manager looked at the man seated beside her. Zach waved his hand at him. Then, he went out of the room and closed the door, giving them some private space.

As soon as the manager stepped outside, he said to the two waiters standing at the door in a serious tone,” The people inside are very important guests. Be sure to take good care of them. If you make even a single mistake, you can forget about your salary for this month.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
