The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 662 by Max Charming

Madelyn often clung to memories of her mom. Even though she knew the visions were not real, she welcomed them. Her mother’s face was a blur, but her voice was unmistakably clear in Madelyn’s mind.

“That glass of milk brings back haunting memories. They cut deep, hurting more than words can express. I’ve kept those feelings locked away, bearing the pain they cause. Every detail from the past remains vivid. Zach, there’ve been so many times I’ve wanted to kill you.”

Following Madelyn’s heartfelt confession, Zach remained unmoved, viewing her not as a threat. He gently scooped her up and laid her on the bed.

“Just rest,” he said. After she drifted off to sleep, he went to another room and smoked most of a pack of cigarettes. The room was thick with smoke by the time Kevin walked in. Coughing slightly, he reported, “Ms. Young has been informed of your return. A room’s been prepared for Ms. Jent, styled like it used to be.”

“She won’t be staying at the Young residence. I’ve got other plans. Plus, I don’t plan on returning there anytime soon. Kevin nodded, “Understood.”

They reached Ventropolis in the evening. The airport, now renovated, was not as Madelyn recalled. A crisp winter breeze greeted her as she stepped out from the private terminal. But once inside the car, the heater ensured they stayed cozy.

Madelyn gazed out at Ventropolis, its old buildings now overshadowed by skyscrapers. As they drove, she thought, ‘Isn’t this the way to Southern Haven Villas? But I thought Father sold it?’

Catching her thoughtful pose, Zach said, “I bought it back after Hayson sold it.” His voice carried a hint of sadness that Madelyn picked up on.

Upon arriving at the villa, Madelyn saw lights in the living room and maids bustling about, ‘Are there guests here?” Noticing the slightly opened front door, she hesitated but then felt an intense tension from Zach and cautiously moved forward.

“You’re back?”

She was not expecting to find Yvonne inside her once-familiar home. Dressed in an apron with her hair pulled back, she greeted Madelyn with a friendly smile. “Come on over,” she invited, leading her to the couch. “I’ve got some soup on the way. Want some fruit while you wait?”

As bodyguards moved the luggage from the car, Madelyn watched Yvonne approach with a puzzled expression.

“I wasn’t sure which fruits you liked, so I sliced up a variety. I need to get back to the kitchen.” Madelyn remained silent. Moments later, Zach’s cold voice broke the silence, “Who invited you here?”

Yvonne attempted a smile, her fingers playing with her apron, “I wanted to do something for you.”

Zach’s eyes darkened, “Get out.”

Trying to ease the mood, Yvonne said, Zach, I meant well. We’ve been engaged for so long, and I just wanted to cook a meal for you.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
