The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 617

“I’ll take you there in half an hour.”

“I don’t need you to.” Zach let her go, leaving Madelyn somewhat surprised. ‘Why’d he let me go so easily? Is he actually being reasonable for once?’

Madelyn immediately lifted the sheets and got out of bed. She looked at her legs and found out that her smooth and fair legs were now covered in marks left by the man. She could not help but grit her teeth and curse inwardly. ‘What an animal!’

As soon as her feet touched the ground, Madelyn felt weak and collapsed onto the floor. Then, she heard the man on the bed letting out a satisfied and light laugh.

The room’s lights were turned on. Zach was wearing a robe that was hung loosely open. revealing his well-toned and tanned chest. He sat leisurely on the bed and lit up a cigarette before taking a drag and exhaling a puff of smoke as he looked at her lazily. “Do you need any help, my darling?”

Madelyn ignored him. She placed her hand on the bed and stood up from the ground while enduring the pain. Then, she went into the bathroom with her clothes.

As she gazed in the full-length mirror, she realized that there were bruises all over her body that even the dress she was holding could not cover.

Suddenly, she felt an overwhelming sense of helplessness. Her reflection in the mirror looked pale and nonchalant as if she was someone who had just been violated. Things turned out to be completely different from what she had expected.

She thought about it and realized that Jadie should have already graduated and married Zach by this point in the timeline. Zach was not supposed to be here with her. Instead, he should have been in Ventropolis, taking over the Azure Corporation and doing what he did best.

Madelyn spent over half an hour in the bathroom and only came back out after getting dressed. She walked over to the table, checked her bag, and was relieved to find that all her important belongings were still inside.

Zach casually put on his suit without any rush. He buttoned his cuffs with his head lowered as he said to Madelyn, who was about to leave, “I’ve talked to the school. The exhibition ended yesterday, and you’re supposed to have a day off today. As for going back to school…” After he was done dressing up, Zach walked up to Madelyn and stared at her with his deep, dark gaze. You’ve already graduated. If you want to leave, Madelyn… I expect you to come up with a better excuse next time.

Madelyn shifted her gaze elsewhere, not wanting to look at him. Then, she said indifferently, “I don’t know what you’re saying. Please… get out of my way!”

From where Zach was standing, he could see that her eyes were still a little red. ‘She has no idea just how irresistible she was when she cried out in pain. I just can’t get enough of her!’ he thought to himself. ‘I want her forever and ever.”

“Don’t you want to come home with me?”

Madelyn glared at him. “I feel disgusted just looking at you now.”

She pushed him away, but Zach remained unfazed. He lowered his head as a mischievous smile appeared on his face. Madelyn then opened the door and saw the bodyguard blocking her way. It was clear what Zach wanted to do.

Madelyn could not bear it anymore. She forcefully slammed her bag on Zach’s body and yelled at him angrily, “What do you want? I’ve been gone for so many years. Can’t you just pretend I’m dead? Why did you have to show up again? I don’t want to see you ever again!”

“Some things are up to you to decide. Did you really think you could leave without my permission?” Zach turned around, facing her. “You’d better stay with me obediently. Let me make things crystal clear.

“You will never escape from me in this lifetime!”

His words sounded like a terrifying curse of a demon. It seemed like there was really an invisible shackle between them, and neither of them could escape from each other.

Madelyn did not shout and cry as she used to. She was like a puppet on strings by his side with Zach’s bodyguard keeping a close eye on her.

They sat in the rooftop restaurant. She could see the view of the Eiffel Tower from their table. They were in the most luxurious hotel in all of France, and the price to stay there for just a night was something she could never hope to earn in her lifetime.

She had no idea when Zach had become so rich…

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
